Consider This Meditation

God Loves you enough to give you rest that fully restores your soul, for His desire for you is wholeness. Your desire for rest is not something you made up; it’s simply you discovering His desire for you. It’s you discerning what the Spirit of God is seeking for you because of His great love for you. God desires a life of rest, peace, and unhurriedness for you, even in the midst of life’s stressors and troubles. The things that try you are never going away, but God desires a spring of incredible joy, in and through you, in the midst of Him.

Now, do you believe this? Or does an inner voice of shame and despair rise up and push even the hope of that thought away? Oftentimes we are so full of garbage conversations in our head that we have little space to hear the voice of Jesus. In unhurriedness, there is space to disconnect from all the competing voices in our head so that we can become open to God’s voice. So take a few moments to read through Matthew Chapter 6 or John 15. Read the Scripture, but let the scripture read you as well. What words or phrases “stick out” to you ? Which words or sentences are significant to you? Take a moment to pray to God in response to these thoughts.

Our work as disciples is to arrange our lives-starting in our hearts and minds, and culminating with our daybooks and calendars- into reordered lives that teach us to fully trust and rely on the goodness and nearness of God our Father. We can practice this reordering as we read and believe the words of Scripture and by changing the rhythms by which we live.”
