Lighting candles are fun but is the meaning of lighting Advent Candles? Here's a hint - - it is about Hope, Love, Joy and Peace. But to be sure, come and listen to Mr Tom explain to the children what they should know about Advent Candles. It is a good tradition!

How To Listen To A Sermon
Jesus wants us to be active listeners—men and women who work hard at understanding God’s Word with their minds and applying it to their hearts. This truth can be applied in many different settings but perhaps none more obvious than from the pulpit on a Sunday morning.
On any given Sunday, there are countless distractions that can hinder a hearing and receiving of the Word: crying babies, a bad night’s sleep, thoughts from earlier in the day, or a short attention span. This is not to mention the spiritual war taking place as the Word is preached. That is why gospel proclamation is part of the armor of God (see Ephesians 6:15, 19). It advances the cause of God against the enemy. To Read More about 15 Practical Tips For Receiving the Word, click here.

Media Luna Methodist Church
There were 77 lbs of toys and medicines sent to our sister church, Media Luna Methodist Church in Cuba and, with God's favor, they should arrive there around December 11th.
Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to gathering the toys and the expense of sending them. Also thank you for praying for the toys to get to its final destination, the church, in time for Christmas.

Cold Night Shelter
Needed! - Wesley Volunteers to staff the cold weather shelter at Jackson Springs Park. The shelter opens when the weather forecast predicts the temperature to go below 40 degrees. We are looking for volunteers that can do a 3 to 4 hour shift when the shelter is open. We want to have many volunteers so no one has to do a shift more than one night in a row. Please be a part of this important ministry to serve the homeless in our neighborhood.
Also, we need to start gathering supplies. We always need gloves, socks, and scarves. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Nancy Blunk at 813 -966 -1496

We are excited to let you know we are at 115 bags per week now – Dickenson Elem is
83 bags per week and TNCountry Elem is 32. We knew once the administrators were able to settle into the new school year, the numbers would increase, and we expect they will grow again after the Christmas break.
We recently packed for the month of December and were able to put a wrapped reading book in the December 13th bag and a wrapped coloring book with crayons in the December 20th bag, so they will get 2 wrapped gifts from Wesley. Now it’s time to restock and prepare for the January packing. If you are interested in picking up a few items, here are a few current needs:
- Jif to go peanut butter cups – 1.5 oz.
- Belvita (type) Breakfast biscuits – kid friendly flavors
- Peanut Butter or Cheese crackers – kid friendly flavors
- Granola Bars – kid friendly flavors
If you have any questions about Pack a Sack or purchasing items, you can always
ask me at church on Sunday or feel free to give me a call @ 813/967-3800.
Please continue to pray for this ministry…and please include these school administrators and teachers. They are overwhelmed with shortage of teachers, admin help and trying to meet the needs of these children and their families. Both are dealing with homeless families.
