Quote of the Week

“Whoever is spared personal pain must feel himself called to help in diminishing the pain of others. We must all carry our share of the misery which lies upon the world.”

Wesley's Response to the Coronavirus

In light of the coronavirus situation, the Wesley leadership met to create a plan to respond to the coronavirus:
  1. If you are vulnerable or sick, please just stay home till this passes. We plan to be vigilant to keep all surfaces clean and wipe everything down before and after church.
  2. We are going to begin livestreaming the service either through the website www.wesleymemorial.net and/or through our facebook page wesleychurch. This will begin March 22. So you can participate from home. Instructions for logging in to watch will be given through our weekly news and placed on the website. Someone will be available to help you learn how to do it. We intend to make this a permanent offering of worship ministries.
  3. We will livestream the traditional service because of copyright laws for the contemporary music. All music on the livestream will have to come from public domain music.
  4. Holy week services will proceed as scheduled:
Maundy Thursday is on April 9 at 7 pm
Good Friday is on April 10 at 7 pm, and
Easter Sunday is on April 12 at 9 am and 11:15 am.
All of these services will be livestreamed.
  5. We have already received prepackaged communion cups with wafers so no one will touch anything.
  6. We discussed going to one service permanently and leadership has begun praying about that. We should all be in prayer for all of this.
  7. Homeless breakfast will be in to go boxes both Saturday and Sunday.
  8. Extra effort will be put into sanitizing everything every time it is used.
  9. We will not have the Easter fest this year.
  10. We will keep you informed as new circumstances develop.
Livestreaming is a way to reach our church family when they are unable to attend. It is also a tremendous invitation tool to share with friends and neighbors around the world. So we you can, please share the opportunity with everyone many times over. We should have the goal of 1000 viewers each week.

Be Watchful

Be watchful Luke 17:1-10

The main point: Everyone is supposed to do what we are supposed to do. And that is not extraordinary.

Thoughts for the Day

Patient with Yourself

Being Patient with Yourself

In his letter to the very early church, James writes, “Be patient, beloved, until the coming of the Lord.” (James 5:7) Even if we weren’t already deep into Advent, many of us we read this to say: “Wait. Hold your temper and tamp down your frustrations. Jesus is coming back, he’s going to fix this mess.” Patience is being here—with yourself and with others as we actually are—because that is where God is.

Why Serve?

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be servants. This is clearly stated in 1 Peter 4:10-11. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. Please visit the church's website and review all of the ministries and opportunities that are available to you by clicking on this link - - Service.

News from the Eberhards

Dear family and friends,
Some of you may remember how finding the appropriate music style was a big breakthrough many years ago during our time with the Mamaindê . Well, this year we discovered that the story of that music has come full circle. God is using it to speak to them once more, and in a very powerful way. Some 15 years ago, while we still lived in the Mamaindê village of Capitão Pedro, the youth there had lost all interest in their traditional music genre. They only wanted to listen to “western” music. After staying up all one night, I (Dave) translated 16 new Mamaindê worship tunes - western tunes but with lyrics translated from Portuguese to Mamaindê . The songs were an instant hit and have been sung faithfully since. Fast forward to the present...Click Here to read more.
The Power of Music
Please see our other short letter about Rutti. Click on Rutti’s exciting news to read more. Thank you all for your investment in our lives, both past and present, whether it’s continuing to remember the Mamaindê or to say a prayer for our current daily activities. We are grateful to you. And we are grateful to the One whose resurrection we will celebrate soon.
