Quote of the Week

Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause. -- Abraham Lincoln

There are no good jokes about a tax or taxes! Only tax collectors like to talk about taxes. And can you believe it? Even hot and deliciously tasty French Fries can't escape from being taxed. During Children's Moment, Mr Tom is going to explain why sometimes we don't get all of the French Fries we expect. It is a hard subject to talk about even with Big Kids like us.

Five Facts To Know About Veterans Day
1. Veterans Day does NOT have an apostrophe.
2. Veterans Day is NOT the Same as Memorial Day.
3. It was originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I. The Allies and Germany put into effect an armistice on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
4. For some inexplicable reason, the bill set Veterans Day commemorations for the fourth Monday of every October.
5. Other countries celebrate it, too, in their own ways.

Big thank you’s to Ascenus and Community Montessori School who continue to do weekly food drives for Pack a Sack, and to our corporate sponsors…this ministry is
certainly a true community effort and we are grateful for all the love & support.

Cold Night Shelter
Needed! - Wesley Volunteers to staff the cold weather shelter at Jackson Springs Park. The shelter opens when the weather forecast predicts the temperature to go below 40 degrees. We are looking for volunteers that can do a 3 to 4 hour shift when the shelter is open. We want to have many volunteers so no one has to do a shift more than one night in a row. Please be a part of this important ministry to serve the homeless in our neighborhood.
Also, we need to start gathering supplies. We always need gloves, socks, and scarves. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Nancy Blunk at 813 -966 -1496
