a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,
We learned last week how important it is to abide in the presence of Christ and enjoyed a little humor at times we do not abide. I have a really funny follow up to the message. In church, I shared times in my life when I have been reminded of the importance of abiding and spoke the phrases I have heard many times:
“Sit still”
“Stop staring out the window”
“Look me in the eyes when I am talking with you”
“Why do you walk away when we are still talking”
“Put the phone away and pay attention”

After church, Sue Anne Korsberg walked me to the car and talked just about life. When we exited the building, I just kept walking to my car and Sue kept talking. I took about four steps and realized I had just walked away from her while she was talking so I turned around. AND SHE WAS STILL TALKING!
HA!
It is important to give God full attention, as difficult as that may be.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Our new pastor Ontonio Christie will be joining us in July. He is a Licensed Local Pastor
from the Alabama-West Florida Conference. He previously served as associate pastor
at Fairhope UMC in Fairhope, AL and St. Andrews UMC in Panama City, FL. He
graduated from Edna Manley College of Visual Arts, and Columbia Theological
Seminary. He worked as a graphic designer, web designer, and director of
communications before pursuing ministry full-time. His gifts for ministry include
preaching, communication, leadership, adaptability, and creativity. Ontonio is married to
Kadine, who works as a writer, and together they have three children, Zahara,

It’s hard to believe that we are already winding down on this school year…We continue to work hard to serve the community and these kids. We are now at 234 children per week. While we are thrilled to be able to help so many kids in need, it does require more resources; mainly food and monetary donations.

We hope you will consider helping us reach this year’s finish line. You can pick up one or more of the items listed below or simply note a portion of your giving to PAS…. either way, we are eternally grateful for your continued prayers and support of our ministry.
 Juice boxes or pouches
 Applesauce or fruit cups – small individual cups
 Nature’s bakery fig bars
 Peanut Butter Crackers

You can bring the items to the church during normal business hours or of course bring with you on Sunday to church. If needed, you can reach out to Jamie directly to arrange a pick up at 813-967-3800 or [email protected]

We couldn’t do this without each and every one of you and we are grateful
for your continued support. Please be in prayer for all the Pack-a-Sack children and in prayer for our current needs.

A Prayer for Abiding in Jesus

Heavenly Father, I come to You through the Name of Jesus Christ to thank You for the comfort of knowing that Your presence is ever with me, and for allowing me to constantly abide in You.

This concept is very well illustrated in John 15:5. Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” I acknowledge that without this close vine and branch relationship with You, I can do nothing good, right, or pure. I ask that You forgive me when I forget this truth and try to trust in myself rather than in Your perfect love.

Make clear in my mind and heart that not abiding in You is very detrimental to living a righteous life. John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” Thank you for sharing in Your Word (the Bible) that if I, as a believer in Jesus Christ, follow Your commandments, I can abide in Your love. John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

I ask You to direct and give me wisdom and strength to practice Your commandments on a daily basis with love, joy, and thankfulness. Thank you for my relationship with You, which began with You taking the first step of love that I never could, by sending Your Son to die on the cross for my sin. Develop Your great love in me in such a way that I can reflect that love back to You and to those around me. John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

In the name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, Amen

10:00 am Sunday Worship Service
Pastor Ernie Post

Please help the church save money on paper and printing by checking in virtually on Sunday Service and receiving a bulletin. The QR code will be posted on the outside and inside of sanctuary entries, in the pews, and at the information desk. Give it a try and see if it works for you. Paper bulletins will still be available if preferred.

*Please note: When registering for check in, it is only required to input one contact - cell phone OR email (although both are preferred.) All other requests are optional and can be bypassed by simply pressing the done button.

Additional Note: The bulletin can also be found on the Church website (https://wesleymemorial.net/bulletin/) in the CONNECT drop down menu . It is updated every week by the end of Thursday for the following Sunday.

If your phone is not pulling up current bulletin via the QR code on Sunday, it is likely you need to clear your cache (search history). To do this, open your search app, tap the three dot bar at bottom, tap history, then clear browsing data. Make sure cookies and site data has a check to the right as well as cached images and files. Then at bottom click "clear browsing data". Refer to google as some phones may differ. It is a good idea to clear the cache on your phone occasionally to keep your phone operating at its best.

*******Even if you prefer a paper bulletin, you can still sign in online in lieu of using a connect card. That still helps the church with printing costs.*********
