a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,
We come this week to Paul’s final journey and his transformation through trials and I thought I would share one of the more telling trials of pastoral leadership. From prison Paul reflects on his ministry, joys and sorrows, success and failure. He remembers to Timothy his calling from God, “I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to him
for that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12

Paul goes on to reflect to Timothy, “You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me.” 2 Timothy 1:15 As Paul reflects about his journeys and the people he was called to influence, it is hard not to remember the failures, especially when there are so many. Many people abandon a pastor over the years and early on we all think people love us and are loyal to us. Like Paul, I am often reminded that most people are just one word away from taking their ball and going home. What I learn from Paul has
been incredibly valuable through the failures, “I know whom I have believed.” My Hope is in Jesus and all I have to do is stay faithful. I am accountable for me. As long as I am faithful to Jesus, He will guard me, put a shield around me. This is a great truth for me and perhaps it can help others who experience failures in life, friends leaving,
people quitting.

I imagine Paul had a great many success stories too. After all, he is writing to Timothy who has expressed a desire to quit. He says to Timothy, “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus…endure hardship…reflect on what I have taught you…God’s word is not chained…end your ministry like me and be able to say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness.” 2 Timothy 4:6

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

The last Soul Painting Session is Sat., Oct. 21 from 11am - 2pm in the Courtyard. If you have been to any of the previous sessions, we hope you will return and finish up your painting which is cut to a 8" x 10" from the large roll of mixed media paper we worked on as a group. We have some finished paintings that still need the scripture devotions we are pairing the paintings with to create an Advent booklet. If you have not yet submitted your devotion, you can do so online. Click link below.

You can now submit your scripture form online here!

If you have not yet participated in Soul Painting, we hope you will join us in finishing up smaller art pieces or start something new with your own personal touch and pairing it with a focus scripture to include in the Advent Booklet.

A Prayer for Israel

PRAYERS FOR ISRAEL October 2023 part 2
Let us join together with thousands in agreement and
proclaim God’s support and protection for His chosen people who today are being attacked and maligned by God’s enemies in body and spirit…. And we pray

11- “Had it not been the LORD who was on Israel’s side….when evil men rose up against them, then they would have been swallowed them alive. When their anger was kindled against them; then the waters would have engulfed them…and swept over their soul….. but their help is in the name of the LORD who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 124
12- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love You, Lord.
Psalm 122: 6 We pray for peace to reign in the land.
13- We pray for the spirit of unity to be among the Israelites facing this terrible war.
14- On your walls, O Jerusalem, the Lord has appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent ….. and take no rest for themselves; And give Him no rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Isaiah 62: 6-7 We pray for God to raise up intercessors in support of Israel and put more watchmen on the walls in Israel.
15- We pray that the spiritual forces of Humanism, Marxism-socialist, anti-Zionism and the spiritual inheritance of the Islam Empire will be broken and rendered powerless.
16- We pray that, in the midst of this horrible war, the people of Israel will turn to you, God. We pray that You will hear the heart-cries of people in the land and intervene with your mercy. Isaiah 30: 19 “O people in Zion, you will weep no longer. God will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.”
17- Your Word says that, “They shall fear the Name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against them. Isaiah 59: 19
18- “This is the word of the LORD “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts” Zechariah 4: 6 “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” Psalm 20: 7 We pray You turn the hearts of the people of Israel to trust You for total deliverance from their enemies.
19- We pray that the Palestinian Arabs/ Hamas and other people attacking Israel will come to know God’s end-time purpose for Israel. Send forth faithful laborers to bring in the appointed harvest from the Middle East.
20- We pray God strengthens Israel’s relationship with the United States and all other nations.
May they find moral and physical support in fighting against this horrible attack to their land.
21- We pray for those innocent victims of this terrible conflict between nations that hurt and kill so many that, through no fault of their own, find themselves in the nation being attacked and demolished. We are all made in the image of God and our compassionate prayers must be for all who suffer, on all sides, and are victims of the evil in this world.
