We have a lot going on at Wesley and I thought it would be helpful to list everything in chronological order. These are all great opportunities to get connected with each other and share the Love of Christ with our community! Invite your friends and neighbors!

October 14 Soul Painting 11-2 in the fellowship hall. I will be helping people learn how to think spiritually and write a devotion for the Advent booklet Wesley is creating. We will continue learning how to do this after church on October 15.
|
October 21 Soul Painting and Bridges Octoberfest. There are lots of ways to help including face painting, monitoring a game, setting up and tearing down. Be here at 9 to help set up. Soul painting starts at 11 in the courtyard. Annual Craft Fair in the FLC is from 9am - 4pm and will continue October 22 from 11am - 2pm.

October 23 HOPE’s 35th Annual Convention 6-8pm at Hyde Park UMC. Come fellowship and vote on issues of focus in the coming year.
|
October 25 Trunk R Treat 6-8 pm Come decorate your car and give the children some goodies.
|
October 28 Habana Health Care Center 2-3pm We will be celebrating a season of gratitude and hope through art and music. Volunteers to assist are needed.
|
October 29 10 am we will have a service of renewal by water. We need two people to help set up the baptistry pool in the sanctuary the week before. If you anticipate participating, wear a bathing suit and a T shirt and bring a towel. After the service there will be a Christmas Shoebox Packing Party. Please bring a finger food to share.
|
November 12 God in the Woods Hillsborough River State Park 10 am through the afternoon. We need a grill master; grilling supplies will be provided.
|
December 1 Hanging of the Greens will begin at 5pm (come earlier if you can). Please join us to decorate the church for the season and bring a finger food to share. We will come together in prayer around 7pm for Friday Night Song & Prayer.
|
December 2 McMickey Farm. Kids get to go on a hayride, pony ride, interact with a donkey and pet a goat. Cost per person $14. Time of the hayride is being arranged.
December 2 Silver Saints Christmas Luncheon will be at Village Inn in Oldsmar from 12:00 – 2:00pm
December 9 Ladies Christmas Tea 11am – 1pm Invite your friends and neighbors to celebrate the Birthday of our Lord. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased ahead to reserve a spot.

December 10 God in the Woods Fort Desoto 10 am through the afternoon. Bring your camera. We need someone to manage the grill for the picnic.
|
December 13 Polar Express 6pm – 8pm Movie time in Promiseland (kids 4yrs – 5th grade) with popcorn, pizza and hot cocoa.
|
December 17 Grinchmas Party 12:30 – 2pm Movie time in Promiseland with Grinch punch, green cookies, popcorn and hotdogs.
|
December 24 Christmas Musical 10am Special production by praise team and choir. Christmas Eve Service at 7pm.
|
December 30 Habana Health Care Center 2-3pm We will be celebrating the coming of a New Year with music and art. Volunteers to assist are needed.

The next Soul Painting Session is Sat., Oct. 14 from 11am - 2pm. If you have been to any of the previous sessions, we hope you will return and finish up your painting which is cut to a 8" x 10" from the large roll of mixed media paper we worked on as a group. Pastor Ernie will be there to help you fill out the scripture form for the Advent booklet.

You can now also summit your scripture form online here!
If you have not yet participated in Soul Painting, we hope you will join us in finishing up smaller art pieces or start something new with your own personal touch and pairing it with a focus scripture to include in the Advent Booklet.

Bridges Preschool will be offering games and activities on the bike trail in the play yard and there will be Soul Painting in the Courtyard. And don't miss the Annual Craft Fair in Fellowship Hall! A fun day for the whole family!

Please join us for HOPE's 35th Annual Convention! It will be held at Hyde Park United Methodist Church on Oct. 23, 2023, at 7:00 PM. We will gather to celebrate the work of our justice ministry in Hillsborough County, to enjoy fellowship, and to vote on our issues of focus in the coming year. We would like to welcome New Life in Jesus Church to our campus. (Pease note this is a name correction from last week newsletter.) This is a church focused on Gen. X and millennials who will be meeting in the fellowship hall 11am Sunday mornings . Please park near the front lawn and in the handicapped spots on both sides. This is a great time to partner with brothers and sisters in the Lord and we look forward to ministry in the future.

The cost to ship each shoebox is $10. If you would like to help with shipping You can put in a marked envelope in the offering plate, deliver to the office or Shaun Black. Shaun wears many hats here at Wesley. She would be thrilled to find someone new who has a heart for the Shoebox ministry and would like to get more involved in the back end responsibilities. A Prayer for Israel
PRAYERS FOR ISRAEL October 2023
Let us join together with thousands in agreement and
proclaim God’s support and protection for His chosen people who today are being attacked and maligned by God’s enemies in body and spirit…. And we pray
1- God Almighty, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and do not be still. For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, and those who hate You have exalted themselves. They make shrewd and evil plans against Your people, and conspire together against Your treasured ones in Israel.. Psalm 83: 1-3
2- Lord of Lords and King of Kings, arise and have compassion on Zion; for it is time to be gracious to her, for the appointed time has come. Psalm 102: 13
3- We pray for the protection and discernment of Israel’s leaders, including the Prime Minister, the Knesset (Israel’s unicameral legislature) and all those in the military service. In the midst of this attack, let them be wise, tactful and faithful. Raise world-wide leaders who will support and help Israel in this war against Hamas terrorists.
4- Hear the Word of the Lord, “I who scattered Israel will gather it to Myself and will keep it as a shepherd keeps his flock.” Jeremiah 31: 10 Father, continue to draw Jewish people to Yourself and protect Israel, according to Your sovereign will.
5- May all who hate Zion be put to shame and be turned back! Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows. Psalm 129: 5-6 Let them be confounded and confused in their evil attempts. Lord, deal justly and swiftly with the enemies of Your people in Israel.
6- Destroy, O Lord, and divide the tongues of Israel’s enemies; for there is violence and strife in its cities. Psalm 55: 9 Carry out Your eternal plan for the land and the people of Israel
7- We proclaim, in Your Name, that “the scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous” Psalm 125: 3 Lord Almighty, break the strongholds of war, terrorism and wickedness that seek to control Israel.
8- For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great Name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people for Himself. 1 Samuel 12: 22
9- The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the people who are against Israel .Psalm 33: 10 We declare that God’s purposes for Israel will be completely fulfilled and that He will be glorified.
10- God of the Universe, Show Your loving-kindness, O Savior, to those who take refuge at Your right hand from those who rise up against Your chosen people. Lord, keep them as the apple of Your eye; Hide them, in the shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress them, from the deadly enemies who surround them. Psalm 17: 7-9
