a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,
One of my devotions I read each day is Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest. For October 2, he wrote, “The height of the mountain top is measured by the drab drudgery of the valley; but it is in the valley that we have to live for the glory of God.” I understand fully life in the valley. I live there. The real question is can I reveal God’s glory where I live? I can see the sun and clouds above the tops of the mountains and though I walk, I cannot seem to get there. I have chosen instead to try and live in the
valley, look around at whatever may be glorious in the bottom of the ravine or perhaps in the dry air of a desert.

I told my parents when I went to see them in June to try and find one good thing each day. We talked about the reality of living knowing there was no more getting better. Can we find something in the midst of that, something that glorifies God? I encourage them and helped as we walked around their facility where they lived and I struggled understanding why it was so hard for them.

My dad died Saturday and I had not yet gotten through the valley from Brenda. Yet I know I will. And if I do not, I will find a way to glorify God in the valley. Each of us has had, is having, and will have experiences that challenge our understanding of what is
good in life. The real challenge of faith is not of the mind, believing as an intellectual exercise is easy compared to faith through the valley. Real faith finds a way to bring love and hope into the valleys of life. “My life is not my own, I was bought with a price.” The price Jesus paid was so that I could walk through the valleys with Him by my side.
I sure do hope you know Jesus.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need four volunteers, each available one Sunday a month during the worship service, to provide back up when the nursery has both infants and toddlers. Contact the church office if you are able to help. [email protected]
The cost to ship each shoebox is $10. If you would like to help with shipping You can put in a marked envelope in the offering plate, deliver to the office or Shaun Black. Shaun wears many hats here at Wesley. She would be thrilled to find someone new who has a heart for the Shoebox ministry and would like to get more involved in the back end responsibilities. Every year there is also a need for strong abled men and women to help load the trucks. If interested you can contact Shaun at 813/399-0220 or email: [email protected].

CHURCH DIRECTORY

Thank you to everyone who made the group effort to get their picture taken for the directory the last three Sundays! This made it quick and easy for all! We are still missing some people we very much would like to be included in the directory. Whether you are a member or not, if you attend church regularly, we want you in the directory.

It is not too late to be included. You are welcome to come by the office on Wed. and Thurs. from 9am-3pm or schedule a time with the office after the Sunday service. Please do this as soon as possible!

We will be sending out a link soon of the online directory. You will be able to set up your own personal password to access your profile and view the directory. Please check your profile to make sure it is correct. With your password you will be able to edit and update your own profile. Once the directory is more complete, we will have a limited amount of printed directories available.

Coffee with Ernie
This week Pastor Ernie continued his thoughts on a cynic and who they are. There is no evidence you can present to a cynic to change their mind. Only by God's supernatural power will they change. You are invited to listen to Pastor Ernie every Tuesday morning at 7:30am on Facebook or you can watch it later. Click link below for the most recent episode.

A Prayer for Unity

Heavenly Father, thank you for your great love for the church. We pray that your people would have unity amid diversity and would love each other faithfully regardless of culture or background. We ask that your church would produce mature disciples of Jesus who would spread the gospel message across the world. We pray that you would raise up godly and reliable leaders to shepherd your people. We ask that your church would display a hunger for your word and for your spirit. We ask that you would develop and sustain deep, meaningful relationships throughout your church that are used to demonstrate your love to a watching world. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
