Hello Wesley,
When I left to go to Oregon, I took my Ford escape into the mechanic and told him to do what he needed to do to help this car last another year. It had 230,000 miles and I started each trip with please and ended it with thank you. In Oregon I got the call. “Mr. Post, you need to get rid of this car right now.” When I got back, I started cleaning it out and sold it. Below is a picture of one of the items I saved.

I bought this for Brenda almost forty years ago on one of our vacations and she hung it on the rear-view mirror of every car we ever had. Funny how a little starfish and sand dollar, a couple of pearls can flood so many memories. As I process my thinking about our memories being a language God uses to speak to us, I am noting the strongest triggers. This was one. Right now, there seem to be many. One of the things I am working on is the idea that I can work with God to establish spiritual memories in the mindsof people I love so that they have them long after I am gone. It appears I did much of this by accident throughout my life and I am looking to be more deliberate.

This little necklace cost $5.99 forty years ago, and what made it a precious memory for me is not the value of the gift but the way Brenda received it. Perhaps I should be more appreciative of what people do for me. How I value them just might be their memory.

Wesley is a member of HOPE, the Hillsborough Organization for Progress and Equality. HOPE represents over 30 faith-based congregations, seeking to extend God's justice and mercy in Hillsborough County by holding elected officials accountable to adopt solutions to common community issues. We would love to have your input on local problems and concerns that you would like to see addressed. Please join us for a House Meeting to be held at Wesley on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 11:15am in the FLC, following our worship service. A light lunch will be provided. 1. We need 2 people to monitor the registration table where participants will chose their focus scripture and be provided with a disposable smock and gloves.
|
|
2. We need 2 people at the painting station to help and encourage others by participating.
|
|
3. We need 2 people to monitor the food serving area. Lunch will be provided.
|
4. We need 2 people to help with clean up after the event.
|
|

A charge conference is held every year. Voting takes place for the Pastor’s

Salary, new Nominees for church committees (i.e., Trustees, Staff-Parish,

Finance, etc.). Voting is also done to remove members who have not been

active for the last 2 years. All are welcome!

We are excited to announce the complete schedule for Church in the Woods! If you are interested in camping overnight or renting a canoe or kayak, you will need to make reservations now. Learn more about the various locations here! (Please note: there will be a regular Sunday Worship Service at 10am on the church property for those who are not able to attend.)

We will be having "Finding God in the Woods" one weekend every month starting in November through April 2024. Brochures are now available on the table in the back of the overflow area.

A Prayer for More Workers
Dear Lord Jesus, since you first looked upon the crowds who followed you with compassion, the Lord of the harvest has indeed sent more laborers into his fields, by the millions. And millions upon millions of people have been reaped for the kingdom.
Yet there is so much more to do. Today I pray for yet more laborers. Lord of the harvest, send more workers into your fields. Help the workers who are already there to realize their calling as a "harvester" of your kingdom. May your people see the ministry you have given them right where they work. Give your laborers wisdom, so that we might serve you well, reaping a rich harvest for your kingdom. Amen.
