Hello Wesley,
“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God.” Isaiah 43:12 This is the beginning of the suffering servant passage in Isaiah. Hear the phrases of this glorious passage: Do not fear for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name; you are mine…do not be afraid for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west…Let the nations bring their witnesses to prove they were right so that others may hear it and say, ‘it is true.’ You are my witnesses…”

We seldom consider ourselves expert witnesses in a legal case against the ungodly. Yet God repeatedly calls His people witnesses. He goes on to proclaim Jesus as THE witness. The testimony Jesus bears against the nations is the cross. The cross is God’s testimony against the nations. At the cross, the heavens themselves declare the glory of God. The nations roar, believing they have killed mercy and forgiveness and instead have only kindled the flame. The cross ignites the fire of the new covenant that
declares complete forgiveness from the inside and the dawn of a personal relationship filled with certainty and hope.

It is in the fire of the cross that births hope for the soul. We who believe no longer rely on the nation. We know we have THE savior. “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He.” Isaiah 43:10
|
I encourage you, be born unto a living hope. KNOW JESUS

Please note we typically go to Habana the last Saturday of the month. However, we are going a week early in Aug. as not to miss Dale and Kathy Gruber's 50th Anniversary Party Aug. 26th!

Bridges Preschool and Wesley will be coordinating to introduce you to Soul Painting!

On the third Saturdays of Sept. and Oct., Bridges will also have other games and activities. This is for all persons of any age and families coming together for some soul enriching time. You do not need to be an artist or have even painted before to benefit from this experience! Food will also be served. RSVP is not required but appreciated so we can adequately prepare for food.

A charge conference is held every year. Voting takes place for the Pastor’s

Salary, new Nominees for church committees (i.e., Trustees, Staff-Parish,

|
Finance, etc.). Voting is also done to remove members who have not been
|
active for the last 2 years. All are welcome!

We are excited to announce the complete schedule for Church in the Woods! If you are interested in camping overnight or renting a canoe or kayak, you will need to make reservations now. Learn more about the various locations here! (Please note: there will be a regular Sunday Worship Service at 10am on the church property for those who are not able to attend.)

We will be having "Finding God in the Woods" one weekend every month starting in November through April 2024. There will be a brochure available soon with all the dates and locations of upcoming events.

HABANA HEALTH CARE CENTER
|
|

We spent a fun afternoon at Habana Health Care Center singing songs and coloring shells to redecorate our centerpieces for the summer. Our next art and music activity is scheduled for Sat., Aug. 19. This is a week earlier than our normal last Saturday of the month so we don't miss Dale and Kathy Gruber's 50th Anniversary Party on the 26th.

CUBA MINISTRY
Dear sister church:
We thank God for each and everyone of you and for all the blessings you sent us in our time of such need and difficult circumstances that our country is going through. Many, many thanks and receive a BIG HUG

day of trouble the LORD delivers him;

Pastora’s daughter, Sara, fell and cracked her front tooth. They need dental sealing
material to fix it. Dentists in Cuba don’t have anything to fill cavities or any other
tooth repair items. If anyone @ Wesley can get this, through their dentist, please do
so and we’ll send it on to Duranona.
|
|
Remember that all kind of medicines and used eyeglasses are very welcome!!
|
|
There is a basket at the back of the sanctuary in the overflow area for donations.
|

Renee Kincaid hosted a luncheon this week for friends associated with the Cuba Ministry.

At the front left is Lynn, our ministry Coordinator, moving to New Orleans tomorrow- our farewell to her!
Other guests included Pastor Orimar & wife- Bayamos Methodist Church/Cuba pastor visiting U.S.- loving them while they pass by; Julio Santana & wife - Pastor Orimar's host in Lakeland; Margarita - wife of Pastor Gilberto; Pastor Pedro, wife and grandson - Paul's in-laws living with them since they got here last year; Dan & mother, Josefina.
