Hello Wesley,
|
So much at once! You ever feel that way? Years ago when I first came to Wesley, we had a dinner with a comedy show and a financial campaign. Our key verse was Jeremiah 29:11 " I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord. plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." The words are a great comfort during troublesome times.

For a long time it bothered me that Jeremiah and his entire generation were taken into captivity and the city fell into enemies hands. I have little doubt that many people wondered if God was keeping His promise. I used to wonder about God's plan for me personally. Not anymore. Now I know that the plan is bigger than I am and able to overwhelm whatever I have on my plate today. That realization is even more a path to peace than looking at this as a personal promise.

I have begun putting together my Tuesday study that will be following Hebrews. I am going to take us through the Old Testament looking for Jesus and supernatural working of God. It will be so informative and challenging.
|
For Sundays, I am examining the clash between God and sin in the church and we will focus on the church at Corinth. I want to encourage you to read all of 1 and 2 Corinthians to get ready for the study. As you read, ask yourself why Paul wrote the letter. What prompted him to write two letters to this church, the longest letters of all the letters he wrote.
|
|
I look forward to two great studies together and pray the Spirit use me learning to help you on your journey. Pray for wisdom, that I learn as I study God's word.
|

In Honor of Sam Black
|
|
In honor of Sam Black, we will start gathering items for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes in July. Sam, who passed away recently, was a dedicated servant to this ministry for many years. He and his wife, Betty, collected gifts all year round and then worked hard during collection weeks. They helped with the church packing parties and packed many, many cartons with shoeboxes to start their journey around the world.

The month of July we will be collecting school supplies, including pens, crayons and pencil sharpeners. (We currently have an adequate supply of pencils.)
|
Also please bring shoeboxes throughout the Operation Shoebox drive!
|
|
There will be tables in the church lobbies that will stay set up through the coming months where you can leave the supplies you bring in.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

Habana Health Care Center
|
|
|
Thank You to all who came out last Friday and Saturday to help with a fun art activity at Habana Health Care Center! We will continue planned activities at Habana the last Saturday of each month from 2-3pm. Also, the last Friday of the month from 2-3pm will be open for individual visitation and games. Please contact the church office or [email protected] if you would like to be part of the ongoing team for Habana. We need more volunteers!

It was great to finally have a Church Pot Luck Lunch last Sunday after 2 long years of the Covid pandemic!

Friends, as I write this newsletter update, I feel a tug-of-war of emotion within. There are nine Ukrainian families who have been successfully sponsored to come to the US through United for Ukraine. One family of 8 will board a plane for the US this Wednesday and arrive in their new home at Agape House of Mercy in Vermont by 2 am. They will get their dream of celebrating America's 4th of July.
In other good news, do you remember that angelic 13-year-old violinist who played at our church on Good Friday? Your donations have helped his cousin, Max and family (pictured below), leave Ukraine.

|
But there is also the cold reality that Russian forces are overtaking Kharkiv, the area where Pastor Ernie's netpal lives, a pastor who has been feeding and housing thousands in the basement of his church and within bombed out apartment buildings. This courageous man is the pastor of Olena, one of our advisory committee members.
You have heard it said, "Prayer Changes Things". Would you consider joining our prayer chain? It is as simple as saying "I'm IN". You will then receive Ukraine updates to pray through. If you would like to give, the Agape House of Mercy plans to turn each of 12 rooms into a hotel suite for families coming over.
