Pastor's Notes to Wesley
Hello Wesley,
I have started working on a new series, "What was He Thinking?" It will be a series that looks at the times in the Old Testament where God did something that requires a bit of thought and perspective to discern what is really going on.
I am going to start with Genesis 1-11, creation through the flood. I will begin with the creation story and ask some of the basic questions:
What was the purpose of creation?
Why are there two creation stories?
Does the creation story conflict with evolution?
Were there really only two people?
Why are there two Noah stories? Is the flood for real?
Who are the Nephelim? the watchers?
And I have many more questions I have asked over the years.
My motive is to help us understand that the Old Testament has profound truth that still applies to our world today. Many are calling to excise the entire Old Testament and parts of the New Testament as irrelevant and untrue in today's society. I thought I would take the high road and rather than argue, simply lift up the great truth that is there.
I plan to use the Tuesday morning devotion time, so if you are interested in these things, I encourage you to like the church's facebook page and join us for the weekly devotion, "Coffee with Ernie." The series will begin in August.

I love being your pastor.

We will be lifting up to the Lord the Administrative Board members and their plans, discussions and decisions to be made at their meeting.
This prayer gathering is for the sole purpose of asking for God’s guidance in giving our leaders discernment as we go forward. This is a shared commitment we all make as brothers and sisters in Wesley to pray and contend for the faith and our church. If you are unable to come to the gathering this month, please, during this time, lift up your prayers at home, work, school, wherever you.

Being able to read music is a plus but if you don't, it's no problem. you will be amazed at how fast you will learn the Hand Bell music. Our ringers have a lot of fun at our rehearsals but also work hard when learning new music.

Friends, Sponsorship of Ukrainian families with special needs is moving along. One family who is planning to come to the refugee center in VT has a young child who was burned over 80% of her body and needs skin graft surgery. Another has a child with cerebral palsy, and then there is Farida who needs physical rehabilitation that is not available in Ukraine or even in Europe.
All three families need help with flights or a US sponsor. A sponsor is someone who can complete the paperwork required by our government; care will be given by Agape House of Mercy in Vermont (Dr. Theresa & Scott Cianciolo). If you are remotely interested in what this entails, please contact me at 813-404-2478 or [email protected].
