Happy Mother's Day !!!

Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,

I was driving home from work the other day and it was just pouring, could hardly see anything. Several people pulled over, taking God’s hint to slow down. I chose not to pull over but just kept creeping along. Several people did not take the hint. One was a truck driver. He flew along and zipped by me. Within a few minutes I saw his lights ahead and he tried to brake and the back of the trailer began to slide to the left. I slowed way down and came to a stop as I watched him try to stop before careening into the cars ahead. Somehow, he managed to get control and stopped. All of the lanes were stopped. There was an accident ahead. Many times we have a hard time recognizing the warning signs of life and for some they see it and just choose to ignore. As Christians, we have several wonderful disciplines available to help us hear from God, gain clarity and perspective, and get back on track.

SLOW DOWN: this is a major spiritual discipline that has great reward. Slowing down helps us avoid hasty, often harmful decisions or words.

TAKE A WALK: this is especially effective if the walk is intentionally spiritual. Of course, walking is good for the heart as well as the soul. Find a place to walk that is relaxing, preferably through nature where you can hear the birds and see the wildflowers. When the days get long and hot, walk early in the morning, perhaps even early enough to see the sun rise.

PRAY AND MEDITATE: and instead of asking be thankful. Intentionally find the good and practice gratitude.

There are many more and these three are my daily spiritual exercises.
They do wonders.

I love being your pastor.
Ernie

national day of prayer

Thursday, May 5, 2022

God is sovereign and nothing comes as a surprise to Him. Whether we face fluctuating economics, threats from abroad, unrest at home, or other troubling circumstances, our Heavenly Father is not caught unaware. Through prayer, we are able to tap into His wisdom, strength, protection, and peace. He stands ready to respond to our needs when we humbly ask for divine intervention in the affairs of men.
As all our nation Pray for America whose pledge of allegiance recounts that we are “one nation under God,” and whose currency states that it is “in God we trust,” we want Americans to encounter the God who rules over their country. “He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals His thoughts to man, He who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth—the LORD God Almighty is His name.”
—Amos 4:13 NIV
He is the One who gave us this promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” As we humbly and diligently seek Him, we’ll be changed, and we’ll see transformation in America through prayer!

The Administrative Board is asking Wesley members to continue covering them and their meetings with prayer during the on-going journey of Wesley church’s future direction.

There will be monthly guided prayer gatherings in the sanctuary for those who want to gather and pray. The gathering this month will be:

- Tuesday, May 17th from 10 am to 11 am

This guided prayer gathering is for the sole purpose of lifting up to the Lord the Administrative Board members who will be attending the meeting that Thursday and asking for God’s guidance in giving our leaders discernment as we go forward. This will be the main purpose for our gathering. Other general prayer requests will be addressed in the same manner as we have up to now through the website, newsletter, onsite Prayer Wall and other emails.

This is a shared commitment we all make as brothers and sisters in the Lord for His church.

Renee has volunteered to set up the gathering dates, set up a place in the sanctuary and facilitate some guided prayers but the participation of everyone who cares about Wesley church is desired and encouraged so we all may participate in person, at home or wherever you find yourself in lifting our voices to our Lord in prayer and worship.

Contact Renee by email [email protected] or call her (813-885-5674) for any other information or inquiry

GodGang is so excited about going to Camp Anderson aka Camp Andy this year!!! Last year we visited the Marianna location and this year we get to test their new Vero Beach location! We have 30 Students registered for camp and the majority of the students need scholarships. We need about 15 more scholarships! The Camp Tuition for each student is $275 (this is very affordable tuition for 5 days of room & board & food & ALL activities). GodGang Youth is so grateful for the support they receive from the congregation to make this happen for them.

Thank you to EVERYONE that has sponsored a student! You are a true blessing to a teen in a vital time on their faith journey! God sees you!

If you feel it in your heart to sponsor a child or 2 or 3, you can make a donation and give it to the church in the offering plate, make sure to put Youth Camp in the memo, or please contact Nadia at 813-750-6696 by text or email her at [email protected].

Every Tuesday Morning, Pastor Ernie does a live devotional connected to scripture. Right now he is reading through the book of Hebrews. If the devotional moves you, Pastor Ernie encourages you to SHARE the video and leave a comment, so that someone else may be blessed!

Dear prayer warriors:

God has allowed me the privilege of sending out requests, since the day we did it by phone. However, now to bring the system up to giving new people the opportunity to serve in this manner, we're trying to change the way we do things. We are asking that instead of emailing me a prayer request, you can email the Church office ([email protected]) or use the link below (in blue) to enter your prayer requests on the Wesley Prayer Wall that is connected to the website. The steps on how to enter a request are featured below as well. If you could please help me in spreading the word on this change, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your prayers and the privilege to serve.
In His service,
Fran

Let us pray for you: When viewing the Worship Service, share/type in your prayer requests in the Comment Field. Your prayer requests will be recorded and added to the Prayer Wall in the church's website so that prayer warriors who visit the Prayer Wall can include your requests in their prayer lists.
Please Note: Prayer requests from the previous services have been posted to the Prayer Wall. Please take time to visit it and pray for these requests. Many Thanks!
