Pastor's Notes to Wesley

|
Many folks are telling me they like the intimacy of the fellowship hall and the opportunity to sit at tables and take notes and converse with one another. We are all missing much of our fellowship opportunities and meeting in the fellowship hall has been good for the church. If you have not yet made it back to church, try coming during our time in the fellowship hall.
|
I continue making headway with my neighbors. The littlest girl came across the street while I was watering the fruit trees and asked me if I would plant more tomatoes, so I squirted her feet with the hose and the other girls came running. They are starting to feel at home talking with me. One day I pray I get to share the gospel with them. I pray for that. And I pray that there are people in your life with whom you long to share the gospel.

My prayer for you is that you can discern what is of God and share the kingdom work with others, that we are becoming a humble obedient people who care for the wounded and broken, that we listen carefully to our neighbors. With God's help, all of this is possible.

The NOMADS have been doing an amazing work at Wesley! You are going to be blown away by the transformation that is happening in the main church. We are so blessed to have them serve us by beautifying our campus. Their hearts are for the Lord and all are involved in the Lord's work wherever they go. What faithful servants! GodGang will be having their Confirmation Retreat March 18th-20th. The retreat will be held at Lakewood Retreat in Brooksville, FL. Lakewood Retreat is a beautiful location with beautiful views of nature that will nurture our learning. The goal of this retreat is to explore & understand what making a commitment to follow Jesus means. This is a free event. We will have our celebration for the confirmands in September during Youth Month. If anyone has a teen in middle school or high school that is interested in joining us, please reach out to Nadia by March 1st.

This weekend members of GodGang Youth went on a fasting journey to bring awareness to what those in poverty go through on a daily basis. It was a powerful time getting closer to God through fasting (we only had veggies & water). We started our morning with a yoga session with Jennifer Foster (HUGE THANK YOU!), we built our own shelters, we prayed, and we got to learn about Maria and her family. We learned about the difficult decisions Maria & others have to make for the well being of their family, such as: where will their next meal come from- should they flee from violence in their city- can they afford to pay for their children to go to school- will they have shelter, etc. Below are some comments on how this experience affected a couple of the students.

"Today has affected me by educating me on the thoughts and feelings of a young girl in poverty...These things gave me an in side look on everything we should appreciate & more."

"This has affected me in a positive way. Now I know how some people around the world feel. They have just about nothing. What if I were in their shoes? I need to appreciate what I have and not complain about going to school and doing homework because some kids have to pay for school, dream about going to school."

Summer Camp Fundraising Time!!!!
|
|
|
GodGang is so excited about going to Camp Anderson aka Camp Andy this year!!! They have opened up a second location in Vero Beach, FL which is only 2 hours away from Tampa! We have 40 Students registered for camp and the majority of the students need scholarships. The Camp Tuition for each student is $275 (this is very affordable tuition for 5 days of room & board & food & ALL activities). Don't be surprised if you see some fundraising efforts going on outside of the sanctuary very soon! GodGang Youth is so grateful for the support they receive from the congregation to make this happen for them. If you feel it on your heart to sponsor a child or 2 or 3, you can make a donation and give it to the church in the offering plate, make sure to put Youth Camp in the memo, or please contact Nadia at 813-750-6696 by text or email her at [email protected].

Every Tuesday Morning, Pastor Ernie does a live devotional connected to scripture. Right now he is reading through the book of Hebrews. If the devotional moves you, Pastor Ernie encourages you to SHARE the video and leave a comment, so that someone else may be blessed!

God has allowed me the privilege of sending out requests, since the day we did it by phone. However, now to bring the system up to giving new people the opportunity to serve in this manner, we're trying to change the way we do things. We are asking that instead of emailing me a prayer request, you can email the Church office ([email protected]) or use the link below (in blue) to enter your prayer requests on the Wesley Prayer Wall that is connected to the website. The steps on how to enter a request are featured below as well. If you could please help me in spreading the word on this change, I would greatly appreciate it.

We will no longer be having the Salvation Army Donation Drop Box here at Wesley. Unfortunately, there have been items that are too large being left outside of the Drop Box that couldn't be collected and it has become an eye sore & a difficult job for the Salvation Army workers. Below is a link for anyone that would like to schedule a pick up for donations through the Salvation Army.
