Ash Wednesday is just around the corner, March 2. We will offer a drive/walk-thru service starting at 6 am so people can stop by and be a witness at work, home, and school. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent in the liturgical year and the beginning of the church's focus on spiritual disciplines that lead to repentance and forgiveness. Many people make additional sacrifices to clear the way for the Holy Spirit to help them become more like Jesus.

Traditionally the palms from last year's Palm Sunday service are burned and the ashes imposed on the forehead as a reminder that while many celebrate, Christians are aware of the sacrifice Christ made for the world. This year I considered burning one of those puzzles and using those ashes....just kidding.
|
In ancient Hebrew culture, the Hebrew people would often throw ashes over their heads as a sign of repentance and grief at the knowledge of sin. So when we receive the ashes, I would say "repent and be forgiven." I would just like to encourage you to stop by and have a strong beginning to the Lenten season.

Habana Nursing Home was so thankful on Monday, Valentine's Day. They were showered with love! This is what we prepared for on Sunday after Service! Amanda, Jean & Shaun handed out goody bags, candy bags, heart wreaths, flower centerpieces, beautiful handmade cards, lap blankets, handmade tote bags, and a table full of games and activities (all featured above)! What an awesome thing we did in the name of Jesus! What a great way to spread LOVE! If you are called to build a relationship with the folks at this nursing home you are allowed to visit and play games with residents, you just need to show your vaccination card.

REMINDER: All classes & Bible Studies and BOTH Worship Services will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the FLC until further notice. The church office will also be closed for a short period of time, we're hoping to be back up and running by next week. We will keep you posted with any further information! Summer Camp Fundraising Time!!!!

GodGang is so excited about going to Camp Anderson aka Camp Andy this year!!! They have opened up a second location in Vero Beach, FL which is only 2 hours away from Tampa! We have 40 Students registered for camp and the majority of the students need scholarships. The Camp Tuition for each student is $275 (this is very affordable tuition for 5 days of room & board & food & ALL activities). Don't be surprised if you see some fundraising efforts going on outside of the sanctuary very soon! GodGang Youth is so grateful for the support they receive from the congregation to make this happen for them. If you feel it on your heart to sponsor a child or 2 or 3, you can make a donation and give it to the church in the offering plate, make sure to put Youth Camp in the memo, or please contact Nadia at 813-750-6696 by text or email her at [email protected].

God has allowed me the privilege of sending out requests, since the day we did it by phone. However, now to bring the system up to giving new people the opportunity to serve in this manner, we're trying to change the way we do things. We are asking that instead of emailing me a prayer request, you can email the Church office ([email protected]) or use the link below (in blue) to enter your prayer requests on the Wesley Prayer Wall that is connected to the website. The steps on how to enter a request are featured below as well. If you could please help me in spreading the word on this change, I would greatly appreciate it.

Let us pray for you: When viewing the Worship Service, share/type in your prayer requests in the Comment Field. Your prayer requests will be recorded and added to the Prayer Wall in the church's website so that prayer warriors who visit the Prayer Wall can include your requests in their prayer lists.

We will no longer be having the Salvation Army Donation Drop Box here at Wesley. Unfortunately, there have been items that are too large being left outside of the Drop Box that couldn't be collected and it has become an eye sore & a difficult job for the Salvation Army workers. Below is a link for anyone that would like to schedule a pick up for donations through the Salvation Army.
