Pastor's Notes to Wesley

|
|
Well the reconstruction project is well under way. We should expect the offices to be out of action for a while now. Meetings in the conference room and multipurpose room will be moved to FLC and worship will be in the fellowship hall for a while. It is all very exciting and a little inconvenient. So let's talk about that.
|
There is a bit of good in the uncomfortable, as long as it does not become anxiety. In fact, being uncomfortable is necessary for spiritual growth. When we live in a comfort zone, we become stale, even unappreciative. And at the same time if all of our energy is spent distressing over what was, we live in the past, in fear, focusing on loss and the mess and the inconvenience of it all. Our call as Christians is to walk into tomorrow with God confidence. Lay our plans before the Lord, do the very best we can, and trust God for the outcome.

This week we are going to talk about real encouragement for one another as a church, from the opening of Philippians 2. I want to strongly encourage you to have ears to hear Sunday. Excellent word for Wesley as we walk into tomorrow.

The creative planning team is challenging Wesley to become part of our community puzzle piece by sharing some love with our brothers and sisters at Habana Nursing Home. We are collecting items to help spread some joy and love to some souls that need it the most by distributing goody bags to the residents. We will also be distributing Heart Wreaths that GodGang Youth is making. This challenge goes along with the lesson Pastor Ernie is teaching from Philippians. We are focusing on this teaching in our groups at the 11:15 am Contemporary Service. Let us be the missing puzzle piece that Habana Nursing Home has been searching for. Are you up for the challenge?

The Council On Ministry will be hosting a Retreat in Promiseland on February 26th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. This retreat has been scheduled with Beth Potter from the district. The basis for the retreat will be the book “Everywhere You Look Discovering The Church Right Where You Are” by Tom Soerens. If you feel led to join the retreat and become a leader at Wesley, the Council On Ministry encourages you to get a copy of the book and read it before the retreat. This is all connected to what Pastor Ernie is preaching and the vision for the future of Wesley and the impact we make in our community.

This week, a family's home in our community burned down & they have lost all of their belongings. The family is in need of many items.
|
|
Hillsborough Academy of Math & Science (HAMS) is collecting donations for this family, as one of the members is a student at the school.
|
|
If you are called to help, we will be collecting donations of items on the list below, this week and next week. You can bring to the church office and we will get items to the school.
|
|

REMINDER: All classes & Bible Studies and BOTH Worship Services will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the FLC until further notice. The church office will also be closed for a short period of time. Also, we will be meeting on Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:00 pm, in the Fellowship Hall at Wesley for a Network Meeting. We will review what HOPE has been working on this year and strategize to get as many people as we can to the Nehemiah Action. If you would prefer to attend that meeting online with Zoom rather than coming in person, just let me know and I will send you a link to join. If you can't make the meeting, I would love to meet up with you some other time to go over ideas.

The Nomads are here at Wesley working on our renovations in the sanctuary, they began work on January 24th and will be here for about 6 weeks. As a token of our appreciation, we would like to provide them with lunch daily. If you are interested in making/purchasing a light lunch for them, please contact Lyn Heinz to get on the schedule. Thank you in advance!

Summer Camp Fundraising Time!!!!
|
|
|
GodGang is so excited about going to Camp Anderson aka Camp Andy this year!!! They have opened up a second location in Vero Beach, FL which is only 2 hours away from Tampa! We have 40 Students registered for camp and the majority of the students need scholarships. The Camp Tuition for each student is $275 (this is very affordable tuition for 5 days of room & board & food & ALL activities). Don't be surprised if you see some fundraising efforts going on outside of the sanctuary very soon! GodGang Youth is so grateful for the support they receive from the congregation to make this happen for them. If you feel it on your heart to sponsor a child or 2 or 3, you can make a donation and give it to the church in the offering plate, make sure to put Youth Camp in the memo, or please contact Nadia at 813-750-6696 by text or email her at [email protected].

Every Tuesday Morning, Pastor Ernie does a live devotional connected to scripture. Right now he is reading through the book of Hebrews. If the devotional moves you, Pastor Ernie encourages you to SHARE the video and leave a comment, so that someone else may be blessed!

God has allowed me the privilege of sending out requests, since the day we did it by phone. However, now to bring the system up to giving new people the opportunity to serve in this manner, we're trying to change the way we do things. We are asking that instead of emailing me a prayer request, you can email the Church office ([email protected]) or use the link below (in blue) to enter your prayer requests on the Wesley Prayer Wall that is connected to the website. The steps on how to enter a request are featured below as well. If you could please help me in spreading the word on this change, I would greatly appreciate it.

Your prayer requests will be recorded and added to the Prayer Wall in the church's website so that prayer warriors who visit the Prayer Wall can include your requests in their prayer lists.

We will no longer be having the Salvation Army Donation Drop Box here at Wesley. Unfortunately, there have been items that are too large being left outside of the Drop Box that couldn't be collected and it has become an eye sore & a difficult job for the Salvation Army workers. Below is a link for anyone that would like to schedule a pick up for donations through the Salvation Army.
