"9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God."

-Philippians 1: 9-11

Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,
"In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:6 Sometimes I wonder how many ways I have. I have a certain way with Brenda, which is different from the way I have with Ashley, which is different from Ezekiel, and different from my men's group, and different from you. I have a lot of ways about me. They are not pretenses, just different ways of dealing with people.

In my marriage I hold high my responsibility to help Brenda become a woman of God and to do that I really need to be a man of God. "In all my ways...." For those who know Christ, for me, there is one way that penetrates all my other ways. I want to be like Christ who emptied Himself of His godliness and took on the form of a servant. So there you have it. In all my ways, no matter which way I am walking or the person I am walking with, I am to be humble, empty myself of all selfishness, and put other people ahead of me.

I try, sometimes I can and sometimes I cannot. I do know though that I am so much faster at seeing selfishness than I ever was. God is making progress and for that I am grateful.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Going Deeper into the Lord's Prayer:

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." (Luke 11:1 NIV)
Don't you wish you could have been part of that class? Wouldn't it be amazing to learn prayer from the master?

How to Pray as Jesus Taught

The disciples were no strangers to prayer. They'd grown up in the synagogue and learned to say the prayers of their ancestors. They knew how to pray.
Jesus' prayers must have looked different, though. Maybe the words he used, maybe the way prayer moved him, maybe the way prayer permeated his very being and was such an essential and life-giving part of his life.
The disciples recognized there was something different about how he prayed and wanted that kind of prayer in their own lives.
What if you could learn to pray as Jesus taught? Sit in on the same class the disciples had on how to pray?
The Lord's Prayer is more than just a memory verse. It's our greatest lesson on how to truly pray.

The Lord’s Prayer is a Prayer for a Lifetime

The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer for all time.
A single prayer that can transform your life.
A simple prayer that can teach you all you need to know about prayer.
A brief, 72-word prayer that can take a lifetime to fully pray.
The Lord's Prayer is our lesson in prayer straight from Jesus, though, not just a prayer to memorize.
In this prayer, Jesus models ten prayers for us to pray, ten key topics to pray through and bring to God.
#1: Pray with meaning, not for show.
Don’t pray because you should or because you want to act the part of a ‘good Christian’, but because you seek a personal relationship with God.
#2: Pray with sincerity.
Pray only the words your heart sincerely wants to share with God.
#3: Praise God for who he is.
Praise God not for what he’s done or what you hope he’ll do, but simply who he is.
#4: Pray for more of God on earth.
Pray for a world at peace, a world with no more sickness or death, a world where everyone sings God’s praises all day, every day.
#5: Pray for God’s will in your life.
Pray for God’s will in your life and to accept God’s answers to your prayers, even when his answers aren’t what you wanted.
#6: Pray for God’s provision in your life.
Submit your heart and life to God, accepting his help and trusting in his provision.
#7: Confess your sins.
In your prayers, admit where you’ve fallen short and ask God’s help to make those changes and do better next time.
#8: Forgive others.
If you’re holding onto a hurt, spend some time in prayer asking God to help you forgive.
#9: Pray for protection from evil.
Pray for a hedge of protection around you and your loved ones.
#10: Pray on behalf of those who need help.
Stand in the gap and pray on their behalf for God to step in and fight back the enemy.

Dear prayer warriors:

God has allowed me the privilege of sending out requests, since the day we did it by phone. However, now to bring the system up to giving new people the opportunity to serve in this manner, we're trying to change the way we do things. We are asking that instead of emailing me a prayer request, you can email the Church office ([email protected]) or use the link below (in blue) to enter your prayer requests on the Wesley Prayer Wall that is connected to the website. The steps on how to enter a request are featured below as well. If you could please help me in spreading the word on this change, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your prayers and the privilege to serve.
In His service,
Fran

Let us pray for you: When viewing the Worship Service, share/type in your prayer requests in the Comment Field. Your prayer requests will be recorded and added to the Prayer Wall in the church's website so that prayer warriors who visit the Prayer Wall can include your requests in their prayer lists.
Please Note: Prayer requests from the previous services have been posted to the Prayer Wall. Please take time to visit it and pray for these requests. Many Thanks!

We will no longer be having the Salvation Army Donation Drop Box here at Wesley. Unfortunately, there have been items that are too large being left outside of the Drop Box that couldn't be collected and it has become an eye sore & a difficult job for the Salvation Army workers. Below is a link for anyone that would like to schedule a pick up for donations through the Salvation Army.
