a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,
We are excited to announce the beginning of a new experience, Church in the Woods. While many at Wesley meet in the sanctuary, others will have our first experience November 12 at Hillsborough River State Park. The Park opens at 8 am. There is a $6 / car fee to enter. We have reserved Pavilion 10. There are several Tiki huts and we have also reserved two grills. We plan to have lunch together so bring what you would like to grill and something to share, like a pot luck. Bring drinks as well, no alcohol
permitted in the park. There will be a service at 10 am by the river.

The park has beautiful hiking trails, a place to rent kayaks, and we will be planning games for the children and adults, as well as an art activity.

Address: 15402 US Highway 301 North
Phone: 813-688-9500

Some folks will be camping there November 11 and there are limited sites available. You could also group camp if a couple of families want to go together. If you want to rent a canoe or kayak, you need to make a reservation. There is a launch there for a canoe or kayak if you have your own.

We are planning to have Church in the Woods the second Sunday of each month November thru April at various locations around Central Florida while the service at the church will continue at the regular hour, 10 am.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

CUBA MINISTRY

THANKING GOD THAT PASTORA DARIELIS WAS REAPPOINTED TO DURANONA
METHODIST CHURCH @ THE CUBA ANNUAL CONFERENCE!

Before Pastora Darielis left for Annual Conference this week, there were many prayers for her and her family for God to grant that they continue serving as the Shepherds of that church. The Methodist Church in Cuba has a location about 500 miles from
Duranona, Camp Canaan where all their activities and gatherings are carried out. Since all Methodist church pastors are itinerant (movable) , the 500+ pastors in Cuba attend the Annual Conference, some with the hope of staying with their flock and some (maybe not so happy where they have been placed) hoping they will be reassigned to another church. All transfer, if re-assigned, occur by August. Pastora had to travel 12 hours in a bus to get there and then other 12 hours to get back home. But, by God’s grace, she was re-assigned to Duranona church and there was much rejoicing when her “flock” welcomed her back. In all her email communications she blesses
Wesley for all the help given to the sister church and thanks to God for this loving relationship…… and so do we!
Pastora is now preparing for another long trip, this time to Havana for 3 weeks, to continue her Seminary studies next month. In this next shipment we will include some granola & fruit bars for Pastora to take to Seminary. These will supplement the meals they get there, which are very skimpy. All churches in Cuba are committed to serve not only their members but everyone in the community, regardless of whether
they are believers or not. Duranona church members are no exception. This month, in the middle of very hot days, a group (including Pastora) went out to work for the community, clearing a patch of ground they are preparing to have a park. In the U.S. we only see umbrellas used in rainy days. In Cuba, it’s an essential item to walk under the scorching sun.
NEXT WEEK THERE WILL BE ANOTHER SHIPMENT SENT TO
CUBA OF EYEGLASSES AND MISCELLANEOUS NEEDED ITEMS.
BELOW IS A LIST OF THINGS YOU MAY DONATE FOR SISTER CHURCH
^ Tylenol ^ Powdered milk
^ Ibuprofen ^ School supplies – pencils/pens/coloring books

A Prayer for our Community and Country

Lord, help us to daily put on the armor of God, stand firm, and commit to pray for our community, our church an our nation. Help us shine the love and mercy of God, never losing sight that our struggle is not with other people but against the spiritual forces that influence us. We pray for revival and spiritual awakening to sweep throughout our country and the world. Amen
