a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,
Romans 12:1-2 is the focus of our study through the summer. In this passage, Paul outlines the path to transformation and renewal for the Christian. He describes three steps:
1. The step that you choose: “Offer yourselves…this is our spiritual act of worship”
2. The battle for your soul against spiritual forces: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world.”
3. The triumph of God in our lives: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Once we experience the triumph of God in our lives, we are renewed. The Holy Spirit completes its work in us.

Over the next few weeks, we will look at various New Testament figures and discern where they are in the transformation path, challenging one another to take the next step. In a world that wants easy faith, this series contradicts the simple. This Sunday we will take a look at one of the first disciples, Andrew. Better known as Peter’s brother. His renewal is quite different from Peter or Nicodemus. Andrew is quite relatable. He lives in the shadow of his brother, and yet, Peter would never have become a
disciple without Andrew. A great part of our renewal is the step where we accept our own place in the Kingdom of God, and often, that is nothing like what the world expects.

See you Sunday,
I love being your pastor,
Ernie
We are excited to have Kristine Johnson join us with her therapy dog, Betty!

THURSDAY, MAY 4, 2023

This is the day to pray for Ameria.

As all our nation Pray for America whose pledge of allegiance recounts that we are “one nation under God,” and whose currency states that it is “in God we trust,” we, at Wesley Church, want to have a time of prayer and worship of the God who rules over our church and our country. God is the One who gave us this promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14:“If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

As we humbly and diligently seek Him, through prayer, we’ll be changed and see transformation in America and in our church. Through prayer, we are able to tap into His wisdom, strength, protection, and peace. He stands ready to respond to our needs
when we humbly ask for divine intervention in the affairs of this world.

Please join us on Thursday, May 4 th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
for a time of corporate prayer at the church sanctuary.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
James 5:16b

We are engaged in an epic battle for the hearts and minds of our youth. Every day, they're bombarded with lies about who they are, who their Creator is, and where their salvation comes from. Thankfully, God has given his children armor to wear in this battle between truth and lies, light and darkness, good and evil!

With this VBS, your kids will learn how they can be part of God's kingdom through salvation in his Son and will be equipped with the armor of God to become Keepers of the Kingdom who stand strong in today's battle for truth.
Ministry Highlights

GodGang Youth Group

The Holy Spirit was in the house tonight. Our Open House was a blessed time together. We had parents, church members and our usual suspects all in the same place!!! God gave Nadia a word to share about how we should be aware as to what the devil is trying to get is off track. This was from a series called “Villans of the Bible.”

Lesson Overview
What’s the deal with the devil? Is he real? Does he have horns and a forked tail? Do we need to be afraid of him? In this teaching, we’ll explore the truth about the prince of darkness.
We all want to thank everyone at Wesley for their continuous support in all we do! We are still raising funds for camp and need scholarships for 15 students. Each scholarship is $295 and we appreciate all the help!

Here are some updates for your prayer consideration regarding Ukraine/House of Mercy.
The Sad News
Theresa & Scott lost a VIP Ukrainian partner this week; Alex, who became a casualty of war. He was instrumental in helping the orphans of Ukraine and became such a trusted ally that when Theresa & Scott had to return to the US last February, he was given control of their car and many supplies to be used to help orphans. Alex was given a gun without proper training. He only knew how to battle spiritually. Please pray for the comfort of those who knew him.
Another Ukrainian friend of theirs was hit by shrapnel and is in the hospital. Your prayers for his recovery are appreciated.

A Prayer for our church leaders

"Heavenly Father, you call us each to different work in your kingdom, according to the gifts you've bestowed upon us. Today, we pray especially for those you've called into ministry, to be leaders in your church. We ask that you bless our leaders with Godly wisdom and discernment today and in the years to come. Keep Your call fresh in their hearts, renewing and refreshing their spirit for the work ahead."
