a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,

I have been sitting with Brenda, alternating between helping her, taking a nap when she is asleep, reading, and crying. I came across some old notes from a philosophy class at Virginia Tech and a quote that struck me. “If you begin by sacrificing yourself to those you love, you will end by hating those for whom you have sacrificed yourself.” George Bernard Shaw.

At first, I just dismissed this outright as godless. After some thought I realized that is exactly what it is and then it came to me. For so many who do not have Jesus at the center of their lives, this idea is exactly what happens. There is no altruism apart from the Spirit of God and the Christ who shows the way.

Shaw was a dramatist. He wrote plays and lived drama. He loved to argue just to argue. He argued against democracy and a Republic form of government in favor of a dictatorship and was friend with the vile leaders of his time: Stalin and Mussolini. He denounced many of the teachings of Christ, especially humility. The more I know about him, the more I realize he is a prisoner of this thought, condemned to hate. I am glad I have been freed from the hatred. Jesus helps me become a servant, and for that I am
most grateful.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie
Wesley Church will have a vendor booth at this event to distribute outreach packets promoting church events and ministries, sell art raffle tickets for the Cuba Ministry , gift baskets to raise funds for the Youth Summer Camp, and selected art for sale with proceeds to benefit the event.
Click button below to learn more about the event.
Holy Week begins with the commemoration of Christ's Triumpal Entry into Jerusaleum on Palm Sunday.
Please note we will not be having communion on the first Sunday of the month which is Palm Sunday. Instead we will be having communion on Maundy Thursday.
Maundy Thursday marks the night of the Last Supper when Jesus Commanded that people sholuld love one another and that same night he then washed the feet of the disciples as an act of kindness. We will celebrate Communion this evening.
That terrible Friday that Jesus was crucified has been called Good Friday because it led to the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over death and sin which we celebrate on Easter Sunday.
The winner of the art raffle to benefit the Cuba Ministry will be announced at the Spring Festival. You do not have to be present to win. Tickets are available for purchase in the craft room Sunday 2nd between 10am - 1pm, Saturdays the 1st and 8th at campus events as well as online.
Easter Sunday is the very pinnacle of Christian celebrations.
It is the day that changed everything.

The house was full with many supporters throughout Florida and Cuba, including 4 Bishops. Three of the Bishops were from Cuba sister churches. The appreciation and gratitude was heartwarming along with wonderful speakers, interpreters, video, entertainment and food. Wesley GodGang volunteered their time as food servers.

A Prayer for Palm Sunday

" Father God, Your Word is true, and You are faithful. You promised salvation through the Messiah and today we remember that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies of our promised Redeemer. We acknowledge our need for salvation from our sins and rejoice that Jesus is our Deliverer. We celebrate Him today as King and ask that His Kingdom come in our lives, too. We praise You now and will praise You throughout the coming day, in Jesus’ name. Amen."
