The dark before the dawn
a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley!
Each week now I have three different preparations: the sermon on Sunday, The Old Testament overview for Tuesday mornings, and 27/90 daily reading and workbook. I find myself using every minute to get another vantage point on a text. By far the best tool I use now is listening to the Bible as I drive to work. It is a great way to start my day. Today I listened to the entire Gospel of Mark. I have remembered that this is just how I did most of my learning when I was in graduate school and Seminary Inundation.

Honestly, I have very little time for anything else, and the learning just comes at me like a flood. My word for the day is inundation. Love that word. I know there are many attempting 27/90 and I applaud that. For me, the best way to do it is all at once like this and then go back slow and easy. I know some are “competing” with others to see who can get it done first. Good. Some want to study alone. Good. To support one another, we would like to have a 27/90 lunch February 19 after church, 12:30 at Wesley
Church fellowship hall. Everyone bring a little something to share, a little food, a great question, a teachable spirit.

Inundation: an overwhelming number, a flood.
I pray God would inundate us with wisdom and knowledge as we grow in truth. Supporting one another is one way God fills our souls. So I invite you to be connected to the sources of learning at Wesley, a small group, worship, livestream, 27/90.

I love being your pastor,

Ernie

A quick update about your Ukrainian efforts:
1. A young pregnant couple safely arrived at Agape House of Mercy in Vermont, looking forward to "water, electricity and a doctor", three necessities she was unable to access in Ukraine due to infrastructure damage.
2. The Agape House of Mercy is truly an international refugee center, the next arrival is a young Cuban gentleman who traveled through four countries to arrive in Vermont. His English is good and he is very helpful.
3. The Quilt Circle at Wesley Memorial provided all children and teens with beautifully made quilts to keep them warm in the cold Vermont winters. Each child was given her own stuffed animal and mini quilt and angel. Everyone there, especially the seamstresses, took note of he expert stitching and were quite impressed. The baby soon to arrive will have her own quilt as well.
Thank you!
4. A total of 61 boxes were mailed to eastern Ukraine through Agape House and Wesley Memorial. We just learned that the first of our eight boxes has been received in Kharkiv.
We are no longer accepting medication, blankets and jackets. Thanks to all.

We are in to our second week of the home bible study 27/90. This study is facilitated by a Facebook group where we can interact and share our thoughts. We will be having an in-person luncheon meet up on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Fellowship Hall to discuss what we are learning. Please bring a dish to share. You can join the Facebook group Here.

If you don't do Facebook, all the materials are available on the website on the drop down menu under Messages. You can join in at any time. Pastor Ernie is encouraging everyone to find someone you can share this study with and step into our role of discipleship.

Coffee with Ernie
Pastor Ernie is continuing his series "Finding Jesus in the Old Testament". This is a not to be missed study focusing on a spiritual approach to the Old Testament that needs to be watched and shared with neighbors and friends! Join us every Tuesday morning at 7:30 am on Facebook or you can watch it later as well.

"Your life is by God's design in whatever you are facing in life. Acceptance is key. Not acceptance that I can't do anything in the moment. Acceptance of faith to get to where you believe God has control of this. And He will see you through because He has promised."
