PASTOR'S NOTES

Hello Wesley,

The church is beginning to gurgle, bubbles are popping up and the earth is making noises. I can hear it. I see three things happening simultaneously and they are linked.

One. I hear leadership talking about how we must have an urgency for families and a heart for those who need Christ. People are more and more encouraging one another to really know the Scriptures and learn the truth. I even see quotes on the lawns of some of our people, artwork being created, singspiration at Habana Nursing Home, a Ukranian worship service at the Agape House and more and more. It is a clear hand of God. We are in budget time and I am honored to say I see the church putting their hopes into tomorrow. Well done leaders.

Two. I see God bringing new people to worship and some younger people and families and I watch as the church responds in a wonderful and welcoming way. People are welcoming parents and children not only on Sunday but are beginning to have a desire to reach out to see how we can help. We are making the transition from what can the church do for me (what do I want) to how can the church help you (what do you want). That is a major transition and will bode well into tomorrow. Each of us has a part to play. Next time you see a visitor, go out of your way and break away from your friends to include them. On the fifth Sunday potluck this month, invite them to come, invite them to sit with you, encourage them to talk about their lives. Make the effort to connect with them.

Three. God's vision for us to be willing to enter into the sorrow of others because other people are important is now a very visible part of our DNA at Wesley. William Barclay has a way with words and putting spiritual truth into perspective. So I would like to share a quote for us, as a target "endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing but to turn it into glory."
Wesley is being prepared for a tremendous future. Come and be a part of God's tomorrow here at Wesley.

I love being your pastor.

Ernie

Fall has hit Vermont and we are surrounded by beauty. Our residents at Agape House are settled and learning firsthand the commitment of support present in this small VT community. We had a benefit concert in an elementary gymnasium and an Open House at Agape House of Mercy.

Larry and I have enjoyed supporting this great ministry through friendship, transportation, education and pictured here, allowing one of the women some time alone to paint.

We are often asked if the Ukrainians here are finding happiness away from the danger of their country and if they are encouraged by Ukraine’s military conquests. The answer is “no”. They carry on and are moving their lives forward but always with the thought of loved ones at home in harm’s way. They have access to news quicker than most Americans.

We look forward to returning to Florida this weekend to see what else God has ordained toward support of Ukraine.
