PASTOR'S NOTES

Hello Wesley,

Looks like the storm skirted us again. I have a high school friend in Fort Myers and he opens an Air BNB on the beach. So far as I wrote this he is OK but the water is like right there, Ian just made landfall. Last time we had a storm headed at us I evacuated to Winter Garden only to have it go directly over my head. When we are skirted like this we tend to feel blessed. I am ever reminded that our blessing means someone else is getting hit hard.

Power just went off!. I have been texting as many as I can to encourage them and thought I would share a thought. While Ian may have skirted by us, it does not necessarily mean we are extra blessed, much less we are blessed because of anything about us. And the opposite is true. Ian hit Fort Myers hard and it does not mean they are cursed or super bad people. Often in life we look for cause and effect to explain things and honestly, a lot of stuff just is. No one or nothing to blame. It just is.

When we get back home after evacuating I simply pray that the first thing we all do is check on our neighbors, even before we check on our house. I have texted all my neighbors. They know I care. And I know Wesley cares. Go love your neighbors!

I love being your pastor.

Ernie

As I write this message it is with a heart filled with gratitude for the support of our church in raising money for Agape House. Our spaghetti dinner raised over $6,100 for the operational costs of The House.

Our church has offered support in other ways too. Nancy Bunk and her crew made beautiful quilts with stuffed animals and dolls for the children. These were well received. We have several members who continue to offer encouragement to their Netpal still in Ukraine or surrounding areas. The Wesley Ukraine Advisory Committee will be meeting soon to discuss our upcoming plans, we covet your prayers.

Please keep the following in your prayers;
1. The Krutii family who are grieving the loss of 10-year-old Ferida
2. God's perfect will regarding the sale of the Cianciolo home. Scott and Theresa have an interested buyer however they receive calls every day from Ukrainians who want to come to the US.
3. Successful surgeries for 7-year-old Mariam who just had the first of several surgeries to repair the scarring on her legs from burns.
4. God's direction for the adults, many who were professionals in the Ukraine. They are waiting for their work visas to be approved

Greatest Needs
1. Relationships with community members
2. Patience as they learn English (they spend 12 hours per week learning)
3. Opportunities for three adults to gain supervised driving hours (they have their "restricted" license)
4. Financial help for heating this winter and other maintenance needs
