PASTOR'S NOTES
Hello Wesley,
Listening to the Bible is quite an eye opening endeavor. I highly recommend it. I am now on my second time through since I started earlier this summer. Having covid has escalated my progress quite a bit. I am again listening to 1 and 2 Samuel where Saul goes mad and hearing how a Godly man like David responds to political insanity. He befriends Saul's son Jonathan and tells Jonathan to keep an eye on his dad. saying "watch what he does more than what he says." Now there are a few words of wisdom we could use these days.
The church needs to be careful what we say and even more careful what we do because what we do defines us. I love a great many of the things we do at Wesley that reflect the heart of a servant: Feed the homeless of our community, clothe them; send home bags of food with elementary children throughout Town and Country, support Cornerstone in a big way, win awards with Samaritan's purse, help open a home in Vermont for displaced Ukrainian families with disabled children, make those children quilts, remodel showers for them, connect with community HOPE efforts, serve the residents of Habana Nursing Home, host CBS, and on and on.
The bottom line is we should do all we can not to allow political insanity to interrupt what we do here. Make a decision, David and Jonathan had a covenant, that no matter what happened they would be there for each other. I have already decided and invite you to come along. No matter what happens, I choose to serve God here at Wesley.

I love being your pastor.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Well, summer for the kids has ended which means it's time to start prepping for another school year and Pack-a-Sack. Shaun has been in touch with the schools so they know we are ready and willing to serve and start delivering. We usually don't start deliveries until around or after Labor Day so that is our current timeline.
For now, we are not collecting any food items due to expiration dates, etc., but we'll let you know soon what we might need.
As always - we appreciate your support and prayers for this ministry!

Calling all W.O.W. Bakers!
We need bakers to make their best pies, cakes, cookies, etc
to be sold at the Sept. 7 Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser
Proceeds will benefit displaced Ukranians who have been and are being brought to the U.S. for a new start at the Agape House of Mercy located in Derby, Vt. Monies are specifically needed for renovations necessary for special needs family members. If you can help with baked goods, please contact Gail Parker at [email protected]

The 2nd family arrives to U.S. from Ukraine this Friday and the rest of the six families come next Thursday and Friday. Prayers are needed as most of the family members have never been on a plane, don’t speak English, have only enough to fit in a backpack and are traumatized.
