Hello Wesley,
|
My turn to be sick. Hiding out in my closet, literally. There are some important opportunities ahead and I wanted to highlight some of them, and before I do that, there is a view I wish to share. When God created the world He sent light into the darkness and order upon the chaos. His Holy Spirit was the acting agent. Nothing is new. The Holy Spirit is still the acting agent that ultimately ends in fulfilment for the Kingdom of God.
|
Then Jesus dies on the cross and sends the Holy Spirit to live in us. Once we receive the Spirit, we carry around with us the acting agent for the transformation of the soul, and God works through us. Here is how this might work: For every 100 people in our society, approximately 40% now do not believe in God. Of the remaining 60%, 50 have a faith expression and a home for their souls. That leaves 10/100. Of the 10, 8 are not ready to respond. That leaves 2. Our job is to find the 2 (or maybe the 1) and allow God to use us through the power of the Holy Spirit. To assist you in finding the 1, we are having a few opportunities these next few weeks.

Almost everyone likes ice cream, especially kids. So we are having an ice cream social on September 4 right after church. Give God a hand and invite your neighbors. To be excellent at this, we should have people who are focused on the new families and maybe even creating opportunities for families to have fun together. Talk with me if you would like to help
|
And then there is Spaghetti and meatballs. Again. Almost everyone likes spaghetti. We are trying to create ways to connect with families, so we even got to go boxes for them. Perhaps you could offer a family a dinner, pay for it, pick it up. and deliver it with a love note from Wesley that explains we are helping displaced children from the Ukraine. We could include an invitation to the future here. I will design the card for any who wish to do this.

We cannot afford to wait for people to come to us. The culture has shifted away from Jesus and now is the time to press forward. The harvest is plentiful. We need to go get ‘em.

Pastor Ernie appreciates your prayers and thoughts while he is sick with covid.
|
|
He is ok but is symptomatic and anticipates it will not be a quick recovery. He has now lost his voice and unable to answer calls. His bible studies on Monday morning and Wed. night have been cancelled for next week.
|
|
|

This month’s guided-prayer gathering will be at the sanctuary on
|
Tuesday, August 16th from 9 am to 11 am
|
for those who able to come and lift up to the Lord the Administrative Board members and their plans, discussions and decisions to be made at their meeting.
|
This prayer gathering is for the sole purpose of asking for God’s guidance in giving our leaders discernment as we go forward. This is a shared commitment we all make as brothers and sisters in Wesley to pray and contend for the faith and our church. If you are unable to come to the gathering this month, please, during this time, lift up your prayers at home, work, school, wherever you.

The Lunch Gang got rolling last year after Wed. morning CBS . They have enjoyed it so much they have continued all through the summer while CBS was on break. Each Wednesday a different restaurant is chosen to meet up. If interested in joining the gang, contact Connie Pruitt at 813-494-4049.
