Hello Wesley,
|
|
A few minutes ago a neighbor stopped by to warn me that he has a mouse infestation, which prompted me to remember something about great churches. When I lived in WInter Garden, western Orange County had a serious mouse infestation because of chemicals being used on the farm and a shrinking Lake Apopka. The county was desperate and solicited ideas for a fix. Someone in our church proposed owl houses. The county approved and the entire church, several fire stations, parks and recreation and a number of other volunteers got together and constructed 80 owl houses in four hours and hung them that afternoon.. In less than a month the mice were gone. Then of course we had an owl problem which seemed more to people's liking than mice. I digress. The church got a county award for that and made the local paper and national news.

Great churches do something very simple. They rally to do something God wants accomplished and they rally community resources. So the challenge for us is to rally. On September 11, a family in our church is hosting Saltwater Gospel at their home. A little music and a word of hope. Then they are cleaning up the canal. I already know a lot of the neighbors will show up. This is what great churches do. Great churches do more than wait for people to show up. They go get 'em. Into the community and the world for the gospel of Christ.

I believe a key to the future of church in America and here at Wesley is to get out of the building, share the gospel. To go into the world and offer our homes and our resources to God to use for glory. Perhaps you have an idea. In fact, I am certain many have ideas. TIme to GO.

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the July Art Activity at Habana Health Care Center ! We had a great time! Renee Kincaid started us out with a short devotion and we handed out large print Bibles donated by Fran Mobley and Jan Grover!

This week work on the Agape House of Mercy is moving swiftly as 8 Ukrainian families in eastern Ukraine are preparing to travel to the US. Such courage!
|
Demolition in the building that will house Ukrainian families is underway. Flight plans and airline tickets are beng arranged for families.
|
|
The Agape Team needs wisdom about the best plans to meet the educational needs of children who are academically behind due to the war.
|
|
|
|
|
|
