Ernie Quote God is more concerned

PASTOR'S NOTES

Hello Wesley,

I have been listening to the Old Testament for the first time and have learned a great deal. When I read I naturally pause at the end of verses and chapters and sometimes I place a break there when no break is necessary or even intended. It may not sound like much but it is. Throughout Genesis there is a repeated phrase I usually just jumped over to get to the next verse. The phrase is, "and he died." It is repeated over and over and over in Genesis. I realized they all died.

Perhaps it is just the place where I am in my life, but the phrase echoed as I listened. Every faithful soul had a purpose, walked through life, got help from God and sometimes from others, fulfilled their part of God's plan, and then died. Often during the life of one of the patriarchs they would build an altar, or plant a tree, or buy a cave as a remembrance. I think it would be a good idea to plant a tree today, something that would remind my family of my faithfulness to them and to God. Yeah, I am going to plant a tree this fall, one that will live a very long time.

It is a good exercise to think about how others might remember you.

I love being your pastor.

Ernie

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10: 24 -25
from the desk of
God continues to make connections in surprising ways. We can trust Him to orchestrate the details of our lives.

An older retired Vermonter heard of the work Scott & Theresa are doing for Ukrainians. He said, "I'm not a churchgoer so I'm not going to be on your board but I'll sponsor a family". Then, the local pop radio station interviewed Theresa & Scott this morning. We find out the DJ teaches English to those in Slavic countries. He offered free classes to anyone of the Ukrainians coming to Vermont. The Cianciolos noticed six hits on their website within five minutes, two from Russia. The Holy Spirit had impressed the Cianciolos and Shapovalovas (aka "The Shaps") in prayer to pray for Russians. During and after the radio announcement today, they could see on the screen people listening from all over Europe!

The closing of the Agape House of Mercy took place Friday. The birth of a four-month miracle was delivered by God. Now comes the physical labor of preparing the House to look like a new home for Ukrainians coming to live there. In one week there will be some demolition and building of showers. We are ordering the furniture needed for rooms.
