Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,
I do not know about you but I am exhausted. This year has worn me out! Most of you know, I am a fixer. I see a problem and just love to dive in there and get it fixed. This year has been unfixable and therefore frustrating for someone like me. So I did the one thing I can always do, I retreated into the word. I spent more time in God’s word this year than any other year of my life, and as most of you have noticed, it came alive for me in new and different ways. So to all the fixers out there….goodbye 2020…and here is a great word I learned anew this year. Wait!

I would like to close 2020 and open 2021 with the same thought from Isaiah 40:27-31

“Why do you say, O Jacob,
And complain, O Israel,
‘my way is hidden from the Lord;
My cause is disregarded by my God’?
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
The Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired and weary,
And His understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary,
And increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
And young men stumble and fall;
But those who hope in the Lord
Will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary,
They will walk and not faint.”

If ever a year called for us to learn the power of waiting, it was this last year. As we enter 2021, say with me “Our hope is in the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.” And be ready for God to raise us up!

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Thank you to the Women of Wesley for your support to getting our brothers and sister in Cuba clean water! A water purifying system was sent to the Niquero Methodist Church in Cuba. Niquero Church’s Pastor Yimmi says: “What a difference this water makes! We had even forgotten what pure water tasted like. Now we don’t have to get unclean water from wells and rivers”.
