Quote of the Week

Thanksgiving Day Foto
“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year because it reminds us to give thanks and to count our blessings. Suddenly, so many things become so little when we realize how blessed and lucky we are.”Joyce Giraud
Pastor's Notes to Wesley
Hello Wesley,
I have 14 keys for the church. 14. Each one is for a particular door or a set of doors. Without the keys, I cannot manage my way through the campus. Sometimes I need the outside FLC key to let people in and the inside key to open the gym. Sometimes I need a key to put turkeys in the freezer and I always need the key to open the main building for Sundays or the office during the week. I think I an one of the few privileged enough to have a key to the copy room. Keys open things. Without the key, you would have to break in to get in the building.

Jesus tells us a great truth at the end of the story. “I have the keys of Death and Hades.” Jesus has the key to the door that leads to eternal life. If you want to get in, you need to know the gatekeeper. Jesus even tells parables about people trying to break in without the key. No go! There is only one way through the door. So know Jesus and spend some time conversing and listening to Him. This season of thanksgiving and Christmas, read your Bible and listen, really try to listen.

As we light the advent wreath, listen, as we sing carols, listen, as we tell the Christmas story, listen, as we sit around the dinner table and pray, listen. Listen for the voices of many angels singing and proclaiming, Christ has come! Listen to the saints of old in unison chorus and they sing Silent Night and Holy, Holy, Holy. Join together as we once again look forward to raising our candles on Christmas Eve and sing together, Joy to the World, the Lord is born. Advent is upon us. Jesus is come again unto His people.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie
