Retirement Celebration for Dee Repass

Dee Repass 1 (2)
The Wesley Church family wants to thank Dee Repass for her quiet faithfulness to our church family for many years. We shall miss her as she moves to Georgia to be with her family, but we pray that she will have a safe and happy move. God bless her in this new chapter of her life in glorifying our Lord.

We do have to make a small correction to the announcements made last Sunday. Due to the Covid restrictions, it is not recommendable to serve a potluck luncheon in the church. Therefore, we will serve cake and punch out in the front overflow after service. We will follow the social distancing guidelines and spread out into the youth prayer sanctuary, if needed.
We are thankful also for the prayer area that our youth have created for the prayer needs of church family and visitors under the guidance of Larry and Nadia, . Praise God for the youth participating this month in our Sunday services! It is so very refreshing to have their participation! We hope that this rejuvenation continues for a long time!

Pastor's Notes to Wesley
Hello Wesley,

“I press on,” is spoken during Paul’s self talk in Philippians 3:12. I know I still talk with myself, and lately, a lot more. Sometimes I talk about the plan for the day, sometimes about the current crisis I am facing, and sometimes about how I feel about myself or how I am going to help myself in a situation or with a person or an event. It is self talk that reflects my views. Too often I find myself talking defeatist language: “There is nothing I can do…” “Why did I say that?” “When am I going to learn?”

When Paul self talks he does something I often forget to do. He keeps in mind God’s target for him, perfection IN CHRIST. I get hung up on my target for me or worse yet someone else’s complaint about how I missed their target. That is so easy to do. No one has hated me enough to throw rocks at me or try to lynch me like communities and even friends did against Paul. Yet his self view is completely wrapped in God’s view and purpose for him. So when you consider yourself, remember you are completely covered in the purpose of God.

God does not measure you the way other people do, or even they way you measure yourself. God has chosen you to see Christians IN JESUS, like I am wrapped in HIS righteousness. And yes I am not yet perfect, but in Christ I can press on. So press on. As you read this today, begin to see yourself in Jesus and press on, become more like Christ!

When you rise tomorrow, press on, and the day after, and after, and after. Even if you don't see or feel changes in your life, others will see you IN JESUS.

Camping Retreat Invitation

The UMM group invites all interested men to a camping retreat at the Vortex Spring Camping Park located in the Panhandle region. Also, for those who know Fred Wood, the park is near his new home up north so we'll stop there and say hello to him. The camping retreat is scheduled for the weekend of October 23-25, 2020.
Vortex Spring
Tent in Camp Site
It is an opportunity for all of the men young or old to get together and fellowship with the Lord and each other. Besides camping, there are trails to hike on and kayaks or canoes to paddle around the park's clear waterways. You can also try your hand at campfire cooking. Who knows, you may win a blue ribbon or a least a pat on the back!

For more information, contact Herman Small at 813 927 1606.
