Quote of the Week

Friendship
“Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.” – Woodrow T. Wilson
Pastor's Notes to Wesley
Hello Wesley Family,

I am missing my friends. I would like to come see you but unsure in today’s world if that is best for everyone. So I thought I would leave it up to you. If you would like me to visit, the office is scheduling a visitation calendar for October and I would love to come by. I will make most of my visits Mondays and Tuesdays from 10-1 and when I come I promise to wear a mask. If you want, we could even meet outside. Call for a time 813-769-9157.

The writer to the Hebrews tells us, “And let us spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

We live in a strange time. God is clearly doing a new thing and I am certain He is actively working on us. I have been seeking a way to establish fellowship again with me friends. Large events, even church, seem to be on hold for a while. So I thought perhaps this sort of getting together would be acceptable. I want to encourage you to get together with you Christian friends, even just to pray together and give a word of encouragement. There is plenty of evidence that isolation is not good for us. We are created to be a part of the family of God and we are living in a time when that has to be willfully sought.

So give a call to a friend or to me. I am happy to come see you.

I hope Everyone is Safe and Smart during this time that we are enduring right now. The Men's Ministry is very proud to say we have been able to continue serving those in need.

Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, our Ministry had to adapt our Meal Program for the Homeless by serving on a strictly Take Out/Serve Outside basis. We briefly reopened by following the Church's Lead and by following the Conference suggested Guidelines for Social Distancing and Group Gatherings. But later, it was necessary to return to the Serve Outside method. As a result, the amount of attendance went way down to the point that we began to serve on Sundays only. After the Homeless Breakfast Service, the Men's Group continued to meet on Sunday with time for devotional readings and prayers..
Saturday Morning Volunteers
Pre-Covid 19 Picture
During those times, we lost volunteers for various reasons. Yes, our volunteers had to make decisions for personal safety or family reasons. But God provided everything and everyone to make sure His work continued with His faithful servants. Just so you know, our Group of Volunteers met last week and made a Group decision to start serving the Homeless Ministries Program back inside again. This is definitely good news and we are going to be doing this on Sundays only. The Homeless Breakfast Service will be from 7:00-7:30 AM and vacated to allow the Men of Integrity to meet until 8:00 AM.

We will continue this way at least until the Church goes back to 2 services. If our numbers increase, we may tweak this to back to Saturday also. Time will tell. For everyone's protection, we are making an investment into a Touchless Thermometer to monitor every individual as he or she enters. Again, we are going into this as Smart as possible.

Please remember and realize that we still need volunteers and funding to make these provisions possible. Believe it or not, it costs more to serve in Smaller quantities. Bigger quantities buys cheaper. So if you can help in any way possible, please do as as the Lord moves your heart.

As you know, Thanksgiving Dinner is right around the corner. We have yet to make a decision on this. But, we will do so along with the Safety Guidelines that are in place in order to ensure Everyone is Safe.

Please let me know if you have any questions about our Ministry Needs or would like to volunteer. We are very Blessed to have the support of Our Church Congregation to help with this Project

Be Safe and Have a Blessed Day
Sincerely, Roger Hyde

Camping Retreat Invitation

The UMM group invites all interested men to a camping retreat at the Vortex Spring Camping Park located in the Panhandle region. Also, for those who know Fred Wood, the park is near his new home up north so we'll stop there and say hello to him. The camping retreat is scheduled for the weekend of October 23-25, 2020.
Vortex Spring
Tent in Camp Site
It is an opportunity for all of the men young or old to get together and fellowship with the Lord and each other. Besides camping, there are trails to hike on and kayaks or canoes to paddle around the park's clear waterways. You can also try your hand at campfire cooking. Who knows, you may win a blue ribbon or a least a pat on the back!

For more information, contact Herman Small at 813 927 1606.
Silver Saints Logo
If you haven’t hear about Silver Saints, it is the senior ministry of our church. Most of us may have silver hair (some covered with dye!) but that doesn’t mean we are sitting around in our rocking chairs.

Love and Food talk the same language on Valentine's Day - Happiness!
Right now, our service project is supporting the Operation Shoebox ministry. We have volunteer runners who are ready to pick up your items at the store or your home and bring them to the church. We are anxiously waiting for our next in person meeting and will be sure to let you know about it. We hope that you can join us at that time. We don’t care what your age is, but certainly we'll be happy to see you!
We also do service projects in the community. The last one we completed was reading to the children at Bridges. Currently, because of social distancing, we have been unable to meet in person, but we are staying in touch through email. If you’d like to get on the email list for updates, let Susan Ivins know at [email protected].
