Quote of the Week
“O Lord that lends me life, lend me a heart replete with thankfulness.” - - William Shakespeare.
My Bible is literally falling apart. Circles, highlighters, and notes are scribbled on nearly every page. I have been using this Bible since I moved to Florida twenty-five years ago. It is 'soon time' for a new Bible. In fact, I already have it but I just have not had the heart to make the transition.
I know the old one will go to one of my children. They have gone through so much over the last two and a half decades that I am sure the notes will jog their memories. I plan to give this old Bible to one of them and then the new one I start with now will go to the other, as a legacy. I plan to give my children the Word of God.
I have had the honor and privilege of being able to speak the word to my kids over these years. Until I moved to Tampa, I was the only pastoral voice they ever heard. It was a great responsibility. I have always loved talking about my family even when they really did not like it so much as teenagers. I am attaching a picture of my son’s family.
Matthew, his wife Tracy, the oldest boy Elijah and Isaac. All of them still text me or email me questions about the Bible. I consider that is one of the greatest honors of my life. I pray that some of the hunger they have for God’s word they got from me. Such a yearning lasts a lifetime. When we get to a certain place in life, we start to wonder what we might be able to hand off to our children. Brenda and I have learned a few things from moving to Tampa. Our kids do not want our stuff. But they do want the spiritual legacy we have modeled for them.
It is never too late to model Jesus to your family. Read the Bible with them, speak with them about how God is working in your life, tell them the great new things you are learning from God. Inspire them to be a servant to others by serving others and let them know God called you to do it. Each of us is the most important model our spouses or children or friends might ever know. What a joy!

The Principles of Stewardship
Bill Peel .... recently wrote an excellent essay entitled Leadership Is Stewardship. His essay can help us build a framework to begin unpacking this biblical idea of stewardship.
Peel suggests that there are four important principles about biblical stewardship we must understand:
1. The principle of ownership.
2. The principle of responsibility
3. The principle of accountability
4. The principle of reward
You can also learn more about online giving by clicking on 'Give' which is located in the church website. When you're there, take the opportunity to read about our church's philosophy on the discipline of stewardship. God will bless you!

Good News! Wesley has teamed up with International Volleyball Club (IVC) to provide training and camps for young women in our community. The timing of this partnership could not have been better. We have undergone significant losses in rental income during the pandemic, and IVC with its camps and training sessions will greatly fill that void.
You may have noticed a few more lines on the floor of the gym as we expanded from being able to host one volleyball game to two. IVC made a substantial investment in high-quality nets and poles, which we will be allowed to use for other volleyball groups. George Mummert of Wesley did a fabulous job of drilling the holes needed, installing the sleeves to hold the net poles and the floor plates, and laying out the lines, which we provided.

We praise God for His provision!

Every year we have as a church participated fully in this ministry! And nothing is going to stop our continued participation in this world wide discipleship effort!!! Franklin Graham echos our own thoughts, that the world needs this effort NOW more than ever! Shaun and her team have been collecting items and we already have shoe boxes to fill!!! But we need your help, with school supplies in the stores abound and this weekend being tax free weekend scoop up some extra goodies to do one, two or a few boxes to share! If we can’t meet and do our normal box filling with the children, we’re planning an alternative! We’ll have a drive through drop off! So take some time, make it a family effort – you will be AMAZED at how much our wonderful children want to help other kids worldwide. KIDS HELPING KIDS!! Please let us know if you need any boxes and remember there are specifics on what CANNOT be sent. We’ve attached the below link with helpful information for your convenience. We will need to have all boxes ready by November 13th, so that’s plenty of time, right?
