It is another dark and booming afternoon in Tampa. Thunder and rain. I love it. Ezekiel gets a little anxious when a storm is brewing, he gets it from his mom. The result is they are both really easy to scare with a storm brewing, like they are guarded facing one way and completely vulnerable to a surprise attack. It works EVERY time.

So as the storm clouds gather, I sit here thinking I am the same way with my spirit. When I know an attack is coming, I put up a strong barricade. The problem is, of course, I am vulnerable from the flank. We all know this to be true, so what am I to do?
|
- Do not wait until the storm to be ready for the thunder. Allow God to put a protection around you in your daily walk. What we do daily in our relationship with God prepares us for the big scary stuff.
- Get someone you trust to watch your perimeter. Another set of eyes on your spirit is a great advantage.
- Hunker down. Now by this time none of us needs to be told how to do that. We have all hunkered down far too long and we can feel the need for connection. so while you are hunkering, use the time wisely to get ready for tomorrow’s storms. Pray, sing holy songs, read a psalm a day, or a chapter in Proverbs. Connect with people you miss, give a call or a text.
What we want to avoid is wasted waiting. Let’s pray and ask God to make all of us stronger after this crazy storm called Covid. “Seek the Lord while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near.”

Show God Your Love By Giving
|
|
It isn't an easy topic to discuss but there are times when we need to remind ourselves about the discipline of stewardship. As stewards of God, we can show our love to God in many ways. We can do this with a heart of praise and prayer, a heart of service, and a heart of giving. In this case, let's look into our heart of giving and the importance of giving.. As 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (NIV) reads - - '...for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly..'.
Please think carefully and decide how you can give to the Lord for His Glory.

Wesley Teams Up with International Volleyball Club
|
Good News!
Wesley has teamed up with International Volleyball Club (IVC) to provide training and camps for young women in our community.
|
|
|
You may have noticed a few more lines on the floor of the gym as we expanded from being able to host one volleyball game to two. IVC made a substantial investment in high-quality nets and poles, which we will be allowed to use for other volleyball groups. George Mummert of Wesley did a fabulous job of drilling the holes needed, installing the sleeves to hold the net poles and the floor plates, and laying out the lines, which we provided.

As partners of IVC, we agreed that other volleyball clubs can come and use the facility to train and compete. At the same time, if you know of any other volleyball clubs or league in your social networks that may be looking for a sports facility, tell them about our gym. Operation Christmas Child
|
|
Every year we have as a church participated fully in this ministry! And nothing is going to stop our continued participation in this world wide discipleship effort!!! Franklin Graham echos our own thoughts, that the world needs this effort NOW more than ever! Shaun and her team have been collecting items and we already have shoe boxes to fill!!! But we need your help, with school supplies in the stores abound and this weekend being tax free weekend scoop up some extra goodies to do one, two or a few boxes to share!
If we can’t meet and do our normal box filling with the children, we’re planning an alternative! We’ll have a drive through drop off! So take some time, make it a family effort – you will be AMAZED at how much our wonderful children want to help other kids worldwide. KIDS HELPING KIDS!! Please let us know if you need any boxes and remember there are specifics on what CANNOT be sent. We’ve attached the below link with helpful information for your convenience. We will need to have all boxes ready by November 13th, so that’s plenty of time, right?
