For several years I read one chapter in Proverbs each day of the month. There are 31 chapters, so it was easy to keep track of where I left off. Poor chapter 31 was neglected once in a while. That discipline helped me understand myself better, to see myself from a different perspective. There are so many really good thoughts in the Proverbs. Here is one that made a difference for me: “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4

I have dedicated my life to carefully writing the precious truths of God upon my heart. This is one of those truths. Love and faithfulness….two of the three greatest gifts Paul mentions in 1 Corinthians 13: faith, hope, and love. Dedication to these gifts from God will give me a great name, and that is important to me and should be for you. For God knows us and calls us by our name.

Faith and love….bind them around your neck, have them ever before you, leading the way into the circumstances of tomorrow. Write them on the tablet of your heart…the heart in ancient times was the seat of the soul, the intersection of intellect, will, and emotion. To write something on a tablet gave it immense value in someone’s life. This is no scrap of paper to be lost. Faith and love are to be chiseled into the very fabric of our being, to occupy the seat that makes decisions in our lives and alters our futures. Better to be governed by faith and love than cynicism and hate. Faith and love give you a great name. Cynicism makes enemies and divides.

So today write this upon your heart: Let faith and love govern you.

It's HUGE! We are giving away all of the books in Wesley's church library!
|
|
|
The library has been here 40 years and over this span of time we have accumulated a diverse collections of books consisting of different topics and interesting subjects. They just might interest you or someone in your family or other people who don't have access to the internet. Possibly, one of those books could make a difference in someone's lives as they did to past borrowers. If you would like to come and go thru the books and see if there are any you might like, you may do so during Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 3 pm at Wesley Memorial UMC, 6100 Memorial Highway, Tampa, Florida 33615.

Operation Christmas Child
|
|
Every year we have as a church participated fully in this ministry! And nothing is going to stop our continued participation in this world wide discipleship effort!!! Franklin Graham echos our own thoughts, that the world needs this effort NOW more than ever! Shaun and her team have been collecting items and we already have shoe boxes to fill!!! But we need your help, with school supplies in the stores abound and this weekend being tax free weekend scoop up some extra goodies to do one, two or a few boxes to share!
If we can’t meet and do our normal box filling with the children, we’re planning an alternative! We’ll have a drive through drop off! So take some time, make it a family effort – you will be AMAZED at how much our wonderful children want to help other kids worldwide. KIDS HELPING KIDS!! Please let us know if you need any boxes and remember there are specifics on what CANNOT be sent. We’ve attached the below link with helpful information for your convenience. We will need to have all boxes ready by November 13th, so that’s plenty of time, right?
