Hello Wesley,
For those who watched our livestream service last Sunday, you heard our finance chair, Steve Olsen, talk about the financial difficulties of the pandemic. We are working to face the challenge of a decrease in giving, the school running at less than full capacity and just now beginning to get to where they can again support the church financially, and rental income from the FLC being down 50% year to date. Those are big numbers.

You can help with doing the following - -
|
- If you are able, step up your personal giving to Wesley.
- Invite others to join us on line for worship. We are seeking a greater digital footprint and are establishing a goal to increase online giving substantially. Inviting others to worship online with us can help us reach our goal.
- Be in prayer for your church leaders. We are entering the budgeting season for 2021 and leaders are tasked with creating a realistic balanced budget. That is a very large task this year.
The finance team and Administrative Board meet this month to begin creating the 2021 Budget. We should be ready by October to present it to the congregation.

The church is going through a rethink right now, not just Wesley but the church in general. Many of the things we have held sacred for our whole lives have been put on hold and there is concern we may have a difficult time resurrecting them when we come out the other side of Covid. Know for certain God will be there and He is with us right now. We just have to discern His will. This Sunday I am sharing Jesus’ advice for such a time as this: “make up your mind not to worry beforehand…” Luke 21:14

Not to worry is an act of faith, a willingness to place your trust in the hands of your maker and decide He will see you through. Jesus’ encouragement to do this beforehand is very wise. If we decide to trust beforehand, we will be less reactive in the moment and so there is a greater chance for a faithful response. So, consider the lilies of the field today. Does not God care more for you than them? And they are so beautiful, so at peace with their lot in this life.

Our official status as a church is that we are closed to the public until further notice and we will have one service livestreamed. Some folks have decided to return to worship and we are not turning our family away but you must wear a mask and practice social distancing. This is not a contradiction. Just this last week, one of our ladies had a very difficult week and was grieving and she just needed to be in church Sunday. Of course, she was welcomed. There are a great many opportunities ahead of us so be in prayer that we are wise. God is doing a great thing right now, right in front of us.

FREE BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!

It's HUGE! We are giving away all of the books in Wesley's church library!
|
|
|
|
The library has been here 40 years and over this span of time we have accumulated a diverse collections of books consisting of different topics and interesting subjects. They just might interest you or someone in your family or other people who don't have access to the internet. Possibly, one of those books could make a difference in someone's lives as they did to past borrowers. If you would like to come and go thru the books and see if there are any you might like, you may do so during Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 3 pm.

On Sunday morning August 16th, we will begin our Virtual Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. Our prayer is that Children and Families will attend the Sunday school and then click over to the Wesley service Link! We are continuing the Railroad theme as we learn about the MIRACLES OF CHRIST!
VBS was such a success and we had so much fun we’re going to “KEEP THAT TRAIN GOING!” We will be sending the links out to those who have already signed up for VBS and we’re asking for kids that did not sign up for VBS to sign up on the link in the flyer.
Again, if they signed up for VBS no additional sign up is required.

The sets in the Promiseland room will remain up (may have to move them around a bit) but we’ll also be doing some on and off campus filming – we’ve all been inside a good amount of time, so we’d like to give some fun ideas on how to have safe fun outside!

Operation Christmas Child

Every year we have as a church participated fully in this ministry! And nothing is going to stop our continued participation in this world wide discipleship effort!!! Franklin Graham echos our own thoughts, that the world needs this effort NOW more than ever! Shaun and her team have been collecting items and we already have shoe boxes to fill!!! But we need your help, with school supplies in the stores abound and this weekend being tax free weekend scoop up some extra goodies to do one, two or a few boxes to share!
If we can’t meet and do our normal box filling with the children, we’re planning an alternative! We’ll have a drive through drop off! So take some time, make it a family effort – you will be AMAZED at how much our wonderful children want to help other kids worldwide. KIDS HELPING KIDS!! Please let us know if you need any boxes and remember there are specifics on what CANNOT be sent. We’ve attached the below link with helpful information for your convenience. We will need to have all boxes ready by November 13th, so that’s plenty of time, right?
