There is grass in my back yard.
|
|
|
This was quite an effort and I am pretty sure the work is not over. I mowed the grass yesterday for the first time. This particular project began back in March when we first moved into our home. The yard was unattended for a long while and filled with vines and weeds. No grass at all. I was determined to turn the yard into a tropical oasis for Brenda and Ashley, so I set to work pulling and yanking, digging and cutting. The hardest part of the job is what was under the ground that I could not see at first….roots. The easy roots could be yanked out by hand. For many I had to dig a hole all the way around the root. I broke my shovel Monday. Some I had to cut with a sawzall. This week I met my match and actually had to remove the root with a chainsaw. It was ten inches in diameter.

This effort has been a great parallel to my spiritual life. Early in my life God got to work on me, removing all of the sin I could easily see. And God kept working on me, getting to the root of the matter, my pride and ego. Many years later He got out the chainsaw. As Paul says, I am not yet a finished product, not yet perfect, but some major work has been accomplished these last few years. So I say with Paul, “rejoice in your suffering because you know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us.” Romans 5:3-5
|
God is not finished with me. There is hope in Jesus, and there is hope for you as well. So let us all become willing to get top the root of the matter. We are corrupt sinners who need a savior. Thank you Jesus for meeting our most fundamental need and sending your Spirit to help us transform.

Rocky Railway VBS Arrived 'On Time' with Happy Kids!!
|
|
Hey there! We just wanted to let you know how much FUN we had during our VIRTUAL VBS and allowed you to share in the fun! We had over 46 children sign up and 60 attendees' what a fantastic way to deliver Gods word! Our Theme was JESUS POWER PULLS US THROUGH. And we all certainly can affirm that, we had a brand new computer crash, camera batteries died, external hard drives broke, and a laptop lock up. But, we would not be thwarted and we would not be DERAILED - Jesus power helped us do hard things, Jesus power gave us hope, Jesus power helped us be bold, we knew for certain Jesus power will let us live forever and be good Friends.
We received e-mails, texts and online chats about the wonderful ways the kids were experiencing VBS at home! Backyard gatherings, living room picnics and dining table conversations allowed all of the Kids (and Parents) to hear the word of our Lord.
So we thought you might want to enjoy it as well! We've attached the "link" document and all you have to do is click on each day! We hope you have fun!

On this day, July 1, 1903, the Apache fighter (Geronimo) was baptized into the Methodist Church in Medicine Creek, Oklahoma Territory. "Believing that in a wise way it is good to go to church, and that associating with Christians would improve my character, I have adopted the Christian religion...I am not ashamed to be a Christian...I have advised all of my people who are not Christians, to study that religion, because it seems to me the best religion in enabling one to live right."
