Quote of the Week

“Life is unjust and this is what makes it so beautiful. Every day is a gift. Be brave and take hold of it.” ― Garrison Keillor

I am in the middle of a grand experiment. I am finding ways to use my memory to create a positive experience on a regular basis. It is said that routines create ruts and ruts are not good. Well that is only true if the rut you are in is producing something negative. What if the rut is positive, cleansing, joyful? I have LOTS of variables in this little experiment. Instead of watching much TV, I have turned the TV into a stereo and I listen to music, specifically to music I listened to when I was a lot younger, like a teenager. It made me wanna dance, made me feel good, made me smile. Now that is a good rut. There are so many of those opportunities available. Here are a few ideas: read a good book, sit somewhere in nature and soak up the beauty. Call an old friend. Paint a colorful scene. Write in your journal. Read a Psalm or a story from God’s word.
And you can help with another one I am trying on myself. Deliberately remember good childhood experiences. Photos help. And Looney Tunes is still awesome. This Sunday I am going to play a little fun game as we worship. I will be making reference to various cartoons throughout the service, cartoons I grew up with. You just keep a list of the characters I refer to. It could be obvious or a little behind the scenes. Send me your list and I will announce the people who get the most. This is just fun, something to jar your memory and make you smile.

There is great joy in the Lord and laughter is good for the soul.

Women's Community Bible Study (CBS)
If you’re like most people, you feel like not only has your life has been interrupted, it’s been turned upside down! This is the best time for the women of this community to study 'Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted' written by Priscilla Shirer.
This is what she says, “They shock us, they shake us; they compel us to change. You can’t escape life’s interruptions, but you can change your perspective on them. Dive into the study of Jonah and discover that what you see as an interruption may truly be God’s divine invitation to a life so much bigger than you can imagine.”
The Women's Community Bible Study's 7th week of summer study will start on Wednesday, May 13th at 10:00 am or 6:30 pm. We will begin the class online using Zoom and we will see how it goes from there. Hopefully, we will be able to meet together soon in person, but either way, let’s discover how God can use life’s interruptions to bring us closer to Him and His purpose. Even if you’ve done this study in the past, you will find God has new things to teach us all about life’s interruptions and His plans.
Because we will not be meeting together in person at the start of class, you will need to purchase your own book. Please order it soon so you will get it in time. We do have a couple of extra books if anyone needs one.
There is no other charge for the class. To register, please email [email protected].
