Pastor's Notes to Wesley
I am sitting here with three devices and two books, reading all of them at the same time. IS that even possible? The information that is available to us in a millisecond is just astounding. With a click of a button I can get three ideas about the David and Goliath story. I just did it. I certainly never imagined I would be learning like this. And I am quite certain I have not gotten even close to the limits of my ability to learn, I do not think any of us have.
And yet, when I look back through history I see so many examples of people who achieved a vast library of knowledge before there were buttons to click. DaVinci, Michelangelo, Descartes. Their minds dwarf modern men. Artists, sculptors, engineers, inventors, scientists before the age of science, doctors. They could do anything from paint the Last Supper to engineer the canal system for Paris or Venice.
And God said to the human race, "The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding." Job 28:28 I am humbled by the great minds of our history and even more by the God who redeems us. For me it is now more about who I am than what I know. And there is peace in that, rest.

I love being your pastor,

I’m in complete awe at the generosity and love of so many that contributed in different ways to the purchase of 1,100lbs of medicines to help our brothers and sisters in Cuba in their dire situation. Last Friday, Blessings International delivered the pallet at our house. On Saturday we hosted a team of volunteers from Gulf Cove United Methodist Church that carefully put together the 45 boxes. Yesterday, my sweet husband, Armando (who is the pastor of First Bartow) drove us to Miami to deliver the medicines at Renacer Travel. What a joy to know the impact for eternity that saving one life can make!!
We hope to continue to bring relief and hope to our brothers and sisters in Cuba with your continued support. Thank you so much. To God be all glory and praise!!

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." Hebrews 13:16

We start a new annual cycle every September to identify other community concerns that must be addressed. In this Listening Process, member congregations hold House Meetings where people come together to discuss current needs.
Wesley will have two House Meetings: on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 in the overflow area (including a light lunch), and online on Monday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 PM via Zoom. We would love to have you join us and to hear your concerns!
House Meetings are most effective if limited to less than 12 participants. We want everyone to have the opportunity to share your story, as your input is very important. Therefore, we ask that you please let us know if you plan to attend by contacting the church office, or calling Carol Dittmar at 813-499-7167. If needed, additional House Meetings can be scheduled, or we can speak to you individually to register your community concerns.

Wesley Memorial Church Multi-Purpose Room, 12:30 (after 11:15 a.m. service)

Grieving is hard work. You have experienced a monumental event. We are never the same. We change forever. It is up to us how we choose to witness the life of our loved one. Join us as we take the steps towards healing our grief as we appreciate their legacy. Our loved ones have been a critical part of our lives and will remain in our hearts forever.
Mourners Path is open to anyone who has suffered through the experience of a death and is willing to meet weekly for eight weeks for 75 – 90 minutes. Participants will have the opportunity to share what they have learned as they have been on the path. We will discuss moments of despair, pain and how we have endured.
Join us as we work through the changes in our lives and find a gentle healing, and we move forward erecting standing stones to our loved one.
Register by calling: Connie Pruitt Pruitt at 813-494-4049, or contacting the Church office.

If your small group or ministry has praise stories &/or news to share, let the rest of the church know! This is how we all stay connected!
We have TV monitors located in the church for everyone to use to get the good news out about what we are doing in our church as well as in our community.
