Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,

I have been drawn to one of the families in my community, feeling called to help them understand God's love and compassion and the gift of salvation Jesus offers. I made a deliberate decision to make this a long-term effort. There are four, now five, children. They do not hear my sermons, nor do they sit with me in a Bible Study, so how will I let them know?

Earlier this week I went out to eat some of the sweet cherries from my Japanese cherry bush. They are just so sweet! When I got to the bush, there were too many for me to eat. The abundance pushed me to pick a bunch and give them to the children next door. So I did. When I knocked, the mom answered the door and one little girl behind her squealed when she saw me. She knew I had something good.

Immediately the mom told me to stay back because her thirteen-year-old son had contracted COVID and they were in the process of deciding whether or not to call the ambulance because he was having a hard time breathing. So I stepped back and offered to pray with her. The little girl behind mom bowed her head.
John tells us, "they will know we are Christians by our love." "God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." 1 John 4:16

Find a way to love someone today.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

1st Sunday Donations

THIS SUNDAY! Please remember to bring non-perishable food donations to help support Kaye Prox Food Bank's mission!

Dear Friends:
We appreciate so very much your continued support for Kaye Prox Food Bank. 2021 has been a challenging year: community need is ongoing, food prices are going up, and fund raising opportunities have been limited by COVID protocols.
We currently serve 40+ families each week, and we are happy to have been able to add more fresh produce and fresh protein items to the pre-packed bags of staples we already provided each week.
Thank you for your generous contribution of staples this spring! We value your partnership as we serve our community together through food distribution to needy families.
Warm Regards,
Kaye Prox Volunteers

We are so excited to be meeting again on Wednesday nights!!! Yes we know COVID is still hanging about so we'll continue to make sure we meet safely AND we're planning more outdoor activities!
The Courtyard is being spruced up courtesy of Mr. Tom, Mr. Jose and Promiseland volunteers/staff. We'll be using the front lawn too...And we're all praying for things to get cooler quickly!
We're going to use our "new/old" desk on Wednesday nights for our WNL Show and Sunday for the G News Daily.
On both days we'll have skits that will be all about David - We're already learning that we can learn what good things and bad decisions David made...he's very much like us. We're planning game shows, clips, games and sports events to match the stories. These will be IMPORTANT LESSONS for our kids! Please make sure they join us!

We start a new annual cycle every September to identify other community concerns that must be addressed. In this Listening Process, member congregations hold House Meetings where people come together to discuss current needs.

Wesley will have two House Meetings: on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 in the overflow area (including a light lunch), and online on Monday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 PM via Zoom. We would love to have you join us and to hear your concerns!

House Meetings are most effective if limited to less than 12 participants. We want everyone to have the opportunity to share your story, as your input is very important. Therefore, we ask that you please let us know if you plan to attend by contacting the church office, or calling Carol Dittmar at 813-499-7167. If needed, additional House Meetings can be scheduled, or we can speak to you individually to register your community concerns.
