Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,

Brenda and I just celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary. We did a bit of reminiscing, mostly through pictures because we can hardly remember anything without a picture. Well, I can hardly remember. Brenda even remembers what I was wearing the last time I said or did something stupid. I do not even remember getting dressed.

We have been an awesome team over the years. She walked with me in ministry every step of the way; youth retreats, conventions, annual conferences for almost 40 years. I have to admit that if she did not like the annual conference so much I may have skipped out.

I hope and pray you have had the good fortune of having a real partner for your life, someone to walk beside you. I consider myself fortunate. My entire ministry I have had someone walk with me who protects me, watches out for me, encourages me, stands alongside, laughs at my escapades, forgives me, and most of all holds me up when I want to collapse. It is a great way to live.

Paul tells his closest friends: "I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:3-6

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

We are so excited to be meeting again on Wednesday nights!!! Yes we know COVID is still hanging about so we'll continue to make sure we meet safely AND we're planning more outdoor activities!
The Courtyard is being spruced up courtesy of Mr. Tom, Mr. Jose and Promiseland volunteers/staff. We'll be using the front lawn too...And we're all praying for things to get cooler quickly!

We are gearing up for the school year and excited to be able to help our community children again this year. Shaun has been in communication with the schools and it looks as though we’ve been given the go ahead to start just after Labor Day. So far, Town n Country will be starting with 35 kids and we are waiting on the start number from Dickenson. With that, it’s time to stock the shelves again. Items needed:
  • Juice boxes/pouches
  • Peanut Butter crackers (kid friendly)
  • Nutrigrain bars
  • Libby’s Veggie Cups (4 pack/4 oz.) – found in the can veggie isle
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED: We are in need of drivers for deliveries to the schools on Friday. Please be in touch with Shaun Black for more details – email: [email protected]

As always, we sincerely appreciate your continued support and prayers for this ministry!

We start a new annual cycle every September to identify other community concerns that must be addressed. In this Listening Process, member congregations hold House Meetings where people come together to discuss current needs.

Wesley will have two House Meetings: on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 in the overflow area (including a light lunch), and online on Monday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 PM via Zoom. We would love to have you join us and to hear your concerns!

House Meetings are most effective if limited to less than 12 participants. We want everyone to have the opportunity to share your story, as your input is very important. Therefore, we ask that you please let us know if you plan to attend by contacting the church office, or calling Carol Dittmar at 813-499-7167. If needed, additional House Meetings can be scheduled, or we can speak to you individually to register your community concerns.

Grieving is hard work. You have experienced a monumental event. We are never the same. We change forever. It is up to us how we choose to witness the life of our loved one. Join us as we take the steps towards healing our grief as we appreciate their legacy. Our loved ones have been a critical part of our lives and will remain in our hearts forever.
Mourners Path is open to anyone who has suffered through the experience of a death and is willing to meet weekly for eight weeks for 75 – 90 minutes. Participants will have the opportunity to share what they have learned as they have been on the path. We will discuss moments of despair, pain and how we have endured.
Join us as we work through the changes in our lives and find a gentle healing, and we move forward erecting standing stones to our loved one.
Register by calling: Connie Pruitt Pruitt at 813-494-4049, or contacting the Church office.
