Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,

I just loved this past Sunday. We have shown a real act of love now to at least 35 families. THANK YOU! I was such a simple jump from thinking about loving our neighbor to actually loving our neighbor. “Accepting the invitation to show up in life is about moving from the bleachers to the field. It’s moving from developing opinions to developing options. It’s about having things matter to us enough that we stop just thinking about those things and actually do something about them. Simply put, Jesus is looking for us to accept the invitation to participate.” Excerpt from Love Does by Bob Goff.

Perhaps it is time for God’s people to move from thinking about faith to living faith. We will be planning to do this again soon and it is my prayer that you make this a way of life. The smallest and most simple thing can be a bridge with other people and an opening for God’s love to break through. Be a part of a movement. Do Something!

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

A Call to Action for the People of Cuba

In the last few days, we have witnessed in shock and despair the violence against peaceful protesters that erupted following the President of Cuba’s call “to defend the Cuban Revolution from ideological subversion.” Attacks on unarmed civilians including children and elderly people have led to many deaths while hundreds have been taken into undisclosed locations after being beaten and shot at.
Methodists United in Prayer echoes the words of the Methodist Church in Cuba and condemns all violence against the people of Cuba. Furthermore, we call our churches in Florida and across our nation to:
  1. FAST and PRAY for the people of Cuba. “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?” – Isaiah 58:6
  2. Lift up a SHARED PRAYER during Sunday worship for the people of Cuba. “Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses.” – Psalm 107:2
  3. GIVE towards relief for the people of Cuba through the Methodist Church in Cuba. “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” – 1 John 3:17
  4. Send LETTERS to our nation’s leaders: the President, the Senate and the House of Representatives. “Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.” – Psalm 20:9
This Call to Action from Methodists United in Prayer has been endorsed by:
Bishop Ken Carter, The Florida Conference of The UMC & Bishop Ricardo Pereira, Methodist Church in Cuba
with much gratitude

MESSAGE OF DEEP GRATITUDE FROM RENEE & PETE KINCAID

We are overwhelmed with thanksgiving to all our Wesley brothers and sisters for the immense demonstration of their love for their neighbors in Cuba who are in dire need of the essentials in life, although overflowing with the love and grace of God.

The response to our plea for help is very much appreciated. Other than funds, they need food and medicines, not available locally. All means possible are being looked into to send help to our sister church in Media Luna and Pastora Misleydis.
May God Almighty continue blessing you, our pastor and our dear Wesley Church.
