Pastor's Notes to Wesley

|
Sunday we shared Romans 13:1-8 together and ended with the call to just do something that reflects Jesus to the world. Our sister church in Cuba and all of the Cuban people are suffering, and we have an opportunity to help. The United Methodist Church in Florida has created a way to help the Cuban people through a special offering. To that end, we will be taking a special offering for Cuba July 25 at the 9:00 service or you can give by noting “Cuba” on your gift. It has been the tradition of the United Methodist Church to help those in need during drastic times. Remember, “when one suffers, we all suffer.”

Also of note, the next two Sundays will have a bit of a different flair. We are excited to try out first “Interactive” church this Sunday, July 18. The 9:00 service will be as usual, then as part of the 11:15 worship experience, those who are attending live will be invited to sit at tables, share some dialogue about the message, and share lunch. Those who worship with us at home will be invited to share comments and questions with Pastor Ernie via the Facebook and YouTube services we offer. Then on Sunday July 25 we are planning the 9:00 service like usual and then will be serving a GO day. So wear your GO shirts.

The Cuban people have taken to the streets pleading for food & liberty- they have no arms, so it’s just a rebellion of words & mob force. Cuba President has called for armed forces to go “dissolve” the crowds with “force”-that means many, many dead & injured. Covid-19 is still rampant in Cuba- they have the most cases in all of the Caribbean- whole neighborhoods are roped off & quarantined- vaccines produced in Cuba are not working. They are in a dire situation.

Pastor Ernie has been asking us to DO SOMETHING for our neighbors- take ‘em “macaroni & cheese”. Let’s DO SOMETHING for our Cuban brothers & sisters! Take part in sending financial assistance for most needed medications and black beans & rice.

We will be taking a special offering on July 25th, "GO Sunday," for our brothers & sisters in Cuba.
