Pastor's Notes to Wesley

Hello Wesley,

It took me two hours to drive home yesterday. There were five accidents and it did not seem to matter which way I went. I must have had a conversation with 25 drivers. Of course, I was the only one listening, or speaking for that matter. Not actually even certain the words came out of my head, but they were there for sure. We all have quite a few things in our heads, don’t we? Most of them we just want to keep there.
So, I decided to use the time to have a conversation with God instead of my fellow drivers. It went something like this:
Me: “That guy is really an idiot isn’t he?”
God: no answer
Me: “Can you believe they gave that woman a license? Just look at her on the phone, all over the road.”
God: no answer
Me: “This guy is going to cut me off, watch this, I can see it coming….There it is, I knew it.”
God: nothing
Me: “So am I right or am I right?”
God: nothing
Me calling down: ”three funerals this week Lord.”
God: nothing
Me: “three more people with COVID Lord. What do I do?”
God: nothing
Me remembering: “Be still and know that I am God.”
God: EVERYTHING!

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Pack a Sack
Pack a Sack is back!
It’s exciting to announce that we have started back with the Pack a Sack program for Town n’ Country and Dickenson Elementary. We are starting with 65 bags for Dickenson and 30 for TNC. Right now, we are somewhat in a trial run as we are making sure the schools are comfortable with our protocols, procedures, etc. Once we deliver for a few more weeks and all agree that program is working, we will fully ramp up. Due to COVID we are not collecting plastic bags as we have some from another source.
If you’d like to donate food items, we are asking for
  • Juice boxes
  • Nutrigrain bars
  • Raisins
We are grateful for your prayers….

Dear Wesley brothers and sisters:
As you may know (or not), a couple of years ago, Leslie Berlin, Nadia Nunez Wood, Marilyn Preston and I went to the Exponential Conference in Orlando. This event is the largest annual gathering of God’s Kingdom multiplication leaders and church planters. It’s also one of the largest gathering of like-minded leaders who care about the church, healthy disciple-making, and church multiplication anywhere.

The four of us, representing the ears and eyes of our church, attended many seminars, all dealing with the Great Commission, not only how to make disciples for God’s Kingdom but do it exponentially. One of the seminars we attended was the Bonhoeffer Project. Since then, I have been receiving the Discipleship making videos and articles written by its founder, Bill Hull. I have also read Bill Hull’s THE COST OF CHEAP GRACE, which deals with many of the current issues that our churches are facing.

It was such a delight to know that Nadia, following Jesus’ command to “Go and make disciples”, was willing to answer the call to pursue this discipleship training and that it was opened to all members of the church to go through.

The attached is the latest Episode (59) of the Bonhoeffer Project, which is about 42 minutes long. Bill Hull always talks/teaches for the first 20/25 minutes and, in this one, two of the leaders explain what the project training is about, very thoroughly.

I would encourage you to see/listen to this Episode, in its entirety or the last 17/20 minutes and ask the Lord if this is something He is calling and setting you apart to do. Answer His call if He does.

In the love of Christ,

Renee Kincaid

Hope Rally march 1

Since the October Convention, the Criminal Justice Committee and newly formed Mental Health and Addiction Committee have been busy doing research, meeting with decision makers and professionals, and strategizing winnable solutions to bring to the Nehemiah Action.
The Rally is an exciting event, which equips us to effectively build the power of people toward our March 22 Nehemiah Action. Justice Ministry Network Members learn what we discovered during our research and what we want from public officials at the Nehemiah Action. Network Members make commitments toward the Nehemiah Action to make sure we will have 1,500 people united from across Hillsborough County so that we can address serious problems in our community.

STEWARDSHIP UPDATE

“Our Vision is to make and send Disciples who live and love like Jesus.”
“The Joy of Giving,” our 2021 Stewardship campaign communicated the importance for our church and the missions and ministries we support. Through teamwork and your diligence it was a very successful program.
With a goal of $428,000, our members committed to $428,676 or 100.2% of the challenge. We had 96 households (Commitment Cards or Electronic Giving) participating.
Thank you again for being an important part of this success story, and the future of our church.
