Pastor's Notes to Wesley

ernie lighthouse
Hello Wesley,
This is one of my favorite photographs. I like it because it reaches me at many different places.
If I am a bit overwhelmed, I can see the man at the doorway calmly going back inside, closing the door and weathering the storm. If I am at perfect peace, I can see the man at the doorway calmly closing the door and weathering the storm. In either case, all I have to do is follow the man’s lead. Calmly go inside and just wait. The photo reduces my anxiety and has become a visual for my faith. I sometimes sing the old song, “when the world is tossing me like a ship upon the sea, thou who rulest wind and water stand by me.”
These are uncertain times and I know the last thing most of us want to hear is just calmly go inside, shut the door, and wait. But sometimes that is the right thing to do. And since I have a cell phone, while I am inside I can text all my friends in trouble and see how they are doing. Weather the storm my friends. Our God reigns!

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Pack a Sack
Pack a Sack is back!
It’s exciting to announce that we have started back with the Pack a Sack program for Town n’ Country and Dickenson Elementary. We are starting with 65 bags for Dickenson and 30 for TNC. Right now, we are somewhat in a trial run as we are making sure the schools are comfortable with our protocols, procedures, etc. Once we deliver for a few more weeks and all agree that program is working, we will fully ramp up. Due to COVID we are not collecting plastic bags as we have some from another source.
If you’d like to donate food items, we are asking for
  • Juice boxes
  • Nutrigrain bars
  • Raisins
We are grateful for your prayers….

STEWARDSHIP UPDATE

“Our Vision is to make and send Disciples who live and love like Jesus.”
“The Joy of Giving,” our 2021 Stewardship campaign communicated the importance for our church and the missions and ministries we support. Through teamwork and your diligence it was a very successful program.
With a goal of $428,000, our members committed to $428,676 or 100.2% of the challenge. We had 96 households (Commitment Cards or Electronic Giving) participating.
Thank you again for being an important part of this success story, and the future of our church.

The Bonhoeffer Project has made a significant impact on my ministry by helping our church narrow our focus of what it means to be a disciple-making church. The cohort provides monthly accountability and an opportunity to share ideas with others who are on a similar journey. I would recommend The Bonhoeffer Project for any pastor or staff person who desires to lead their church to be kingdom builders through genuine, biblical discipleship.
