Pastor's Notes to Wesley

bunnies
Hello Wesley,

The first is Cocoa and the second Nalla. Our response to the trial was to double down on the positive. They absolutely love each other. Coming home with us was the first time they were out of their cages. They each sleep in their own cage and get set free first thing in the morning. Guess what the first thing they do is…? They both immediately jump into the other one’s cage to see what they might have missed. Every morning is the same thing. The grass is always greener….

Ezekiel has already come around to realizing that love cannot be contained and it is not reserved. That as people we never replace things, people, or rabbits we love but we can add to it. It has already been great lesson for him, as it would be for us. We have come to a new leadership in the country and many are all excited believing the grass is now greener. I do pray our leadership seek God’s wisdom. We should all do that. I do pray people living in different cages could learn to live like these two rabbits. I do pray life would be simple for us this year, not convoluted with dramatic divisions or irreconcilable differences as it has been in the past.

I know I plan to do my part. As far as it is up to me, I will live at peace with all people. Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” I know it is possible for me, not sure about other people. Sometimes I have wondered if they want to live in peace with each other. I know the rabbits do!
I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Wesley's GodGang handed out roses to ALL of the ladies that attended Sunday's service. Some asked, "Why are you giving these out? Did we miss a holiday?" No you didn't miss anything, we were doing a random act of kindness because we love our church! We hope if you received a rose, you felt loved!

HOPE-Logo-300x294
As part of the Hillsborough Organization for Progress and Equality (HOPE) , Wesley joins 24 other faith-based congregations seeking to respond to God's call to do justice in our community through systemic change. HOPE uses volunteers to research local issues and present solutions to our local leaders. This year, HOPE has 2 committees that are committed to finding and securing help. The Criminal Justice committee has previously helped secure Crisis Intervention Training at the Tampa Police Department and the expansion of the Civil Citation policy for children. It continues to monitor these programs, and is also starting to research the reduction of adult arrests and systemic bias in policing. The second committee is Mental Health and Addiction, and focuses on barriers to access for treatment and services. There is ongoing research about the services that are available, how to measure the unmet needs, and what specific actions can remove local barriers for those seeking help with behavioral health issues.
Wesley's HOPE team meets by Zoom on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 PM to discuss these issues and share our stories. We would love to have you join us for our next meeting on Feb. 8!
