Pastor's Notes to Wesley
|
Yesterday I watched with amazement and sadness as citizens of our country displayed behavior that resembled anarchy not order. The blame game has started, “Trump’s fault.” “Staged by the left.” Quite honestly I am not so sure it matters whose fault it is. The reality is that it happened. Hard to imagine a more chaotic time in the history of our nation, but there were some crazy times. 620,000 died in the civil war. That is a big number. 675,000 died from the Spanish Flu another 116,516 in WW1 (63,114 from the flu). 291,557 in WW2. Presidents have been assassinated. The country went through the great depression.
|
So what is a Christian to do when godlessness and hopelessness is all around? Fortunately I do not have to answer that for us. Jesus does, and so does Paul. Jesus tells us, “in this world you will have trouble, be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” And I am certain He did not mean he was taking over congress because things were not going His way. No! He meant what Paul said, “our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces.” It has never been more obvious to me that we are in an increasingly intense spiritual battle that ends not when our voted in party takes office but when Jesus comes back.
|
So what do I do as a Christian between now and then? I GLORIFY GOD! That is it. That is my whole life. “I no longer live but Christ lives in me.” Next month I get to paint a widow’s home. To God be the Glory!
|
You have a great week and do not let the news trick you into thinking one thing when something else is really happening. Trust God’s word. Something else is really happening! God is having his way even though it seems we are being turned over to ourselves. Read the end of the story. God wins! Now go glorify Him!

I love being your pastor,

Walking The Mourners Path Has A New Class!

The pain of losing a loved one can leave a person feeling alone, not knowing what to do next and an overwhelming feeling of loss and pain. Walking The Mourners Path provides a place composed of others that share the pain of the death of a loved one. It is an opportunity to share your feelings, ask questions of each other, listen to the experiences of others, gain insight and receive support in problem solving. Walking The Mourners Path will begin Sunday, January 10, 2021. We will be meeting in the multipurpose room 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. This is an eight commitment that will meet everyone’s need.

Wesley's GodGang Youth Group celebrated the last day of 2020 by taking in God's beautiful landscape. We went Kayaking at the Upper Tampa Bay Park. We were blessed with a sunny and warm day. We were able to borrow kayaks and paddleboards from some of our families and friends! It was an amazing experience seeing the students tackle their fears and embrace the adventure! A few of our students acted as our guides on the water, they helped us adventure around the waters. Every trip together bonds us closer to each other. Thank you Jesus for such a wonderful time! This year our focus is on leadership! Stay tuned for more on our journey together!

Thank you to the Women of Wesley for your support to getting our brothers and sister in Cuba clean water! A water purifying system was sent to the Niquero Methodist Church in Cuba. Niquero Church’s Pastor Yimmi says: “What a difference this water makes! We had even forgotten what pure water tasted like. Now we don’t have to get unclean water from wells and rivers”.
