You’re invited to get involved with H.O.P.E
Last year, HOPE made progress in addressing several important community concerns. In May, Sabal Place Apartments opened with 112 units, partially funded by the HOPE Affordable Housing Fund. The Fund provides county money for housing needs of low and very low income families, and currently supports two other apartment complexes under construction. In June, the youth civil citation program was expanded, with citations now mandatory in all juvenile cases of first time misdemeanor offenses, unless there are “extraordinary circumstances” with a supervisor’s approval for an arrest rather than a citation. HOPE also sponsored a racial profiling summit with our criminal justice decision makers and Dr. Jack McDevitt of Northeastern University, to encourage better data collection and analysis of law enforcement traffic stops where no citation is issued. HOPE’s mental health and addiction committee continues to push for sufficient funds to operate a Recovery-through-Work International Clubhouse scheduled to open in spring 2022.
While HOPE will continue to work on these issues, we start a new annual cycle every September to identify other community concerns that must be addressed. In this Listening Process, member congregations hold House Meetings where people come together to discuss current needs. Wesley will have two House Meetings: on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 in the overflow area (including a light lunch), and online on Monday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 PM via Zoom. We would love to have you join us and to hear your concerns!
House Meetings are most effective if limited to less than 12 participants. We want everyone to have the opportunity to share your story, as your input is very important. Therefore, we ask that you please let us know if you plan to attend by contacting the church office, or calling Carol Dittmar at 813-499-7167. If needed, additional House Meetings can be scheduled, or we can speak to you individually to register your community concerns.

Promiseland Children’s Ministry is BACK!
We are so excited to be meeting again on Wednesday nights!!! Yes we know COVID is still hanging about so we’ll continue to make sure we meet safely AND we’re planning more outdoor activities!
The Courtyard is being spruced up courtesy of Mr. Tom, Mr. Jose and Promiseland volunteers/staff. We’ll be using the front lawn too…And we’re all praying for things to get cooler quickly!
We’re going to use our “new/old” desk on Wednesday nights for our WNL Show and Sunday for the G News Daily.
On both days we’ll have skits that will be all about David – We’re already learning that we can learn what good things and bad decisions David made…he’s very much like us. We’re planning game shows, clips, games and sports events to match the stories. These will be IMPORTANT LESSONS for our kids! Please make sure they join us!
