October 14 - October 20,2024
My heart is full of joy and peace as I reflect on the past few days. As a church, we have not only opened our doors to our community, but we have also opened our hearts.
This week, I witnessed firsthand the outpouring support from local pastors, volunteers and the power of being a part of the United Methodist connectional system.
On Monday, Bishop Tom Berlin delivered 200 flood buckets. He walked through the building and was beyond complimentary about the work we have done so far.
A group of 10 young men and one woman gave us generous donations of clothing and cleaning, supplies, and an abundance of books and toys for Bridges.
On Tuesday, The South Tampa Fellowship’s Disaster Relief Team served meals in our parking lot. Our parking lot was packed.
On Wednesday, we shared a meal of lasagna with our community. One mother cried when she heard we will be serving hot meals every Wednesday. This Friday, the Scouts will be serving tacos in our fellowship hall.
We have the gift of sitting with our neighbors, listening to their stories, and providing them with a moment of rest—even if just for a few minutes. This is what it truly means to be the church.
A special thanks to all our volunteers and supporters who make these Wednesday night dinners possible. For those of you navigating the challenges of recovery and rebuilding, know that my prayers are with you. I ask for God’s comfort and strength to guide you through the days ahead.
As 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
May you find strength and peace in God’s abundant grace.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!
