Pastor's Notes to Wesley
Renovations are underway and we can all be excited about the new space being created. I would like for us to consider that the creation of new space is both a literal and symbolic action. We are literally creating new space in the sanctuary and this is an opportunity to tell people to see what is happening here at Wesley. I am even more enthused by the symbolism of the effort. For some time now I have sensed that God is doing a new thing not just at Wesley but around the world. I recently read a book, Everywhere You Look, by Tim Soerens that helps identify some of what I have been sensing. This book is part of a Council on Ministries Retreat in February being led by Beth Potter, February 26, from 9 am to noon in Promiseland. I recommend both the book and the retreat. If you want to come, let Tom Edwards know right away. 813-624-3816. All of the leaders at Wesley should read the book and plan to attend.
Symbolically we are in transition from "come to church and see what God is doing" to going into the community to listen to the people and hear what God has been doing there. This is happening all around the world. People are opening their homes and their lives, asking their neighbors about their spiritual journeys and listening to them. I am excited about the witness the church has with the community and look forward to having Beth talk with us about this.
Our first Sunday in the FLC was a success. We even live streamed. We had about 100 in attendance and another 260 watching from home. An important lesson for us is to learn to take that experience into the community, so we should get in the practice of sharing with our friends and neighbors.

I love being your pastor,

This week, a family's home in our community burned down & they have lost all of their belongings. The family is in need of many items.
Hillsborough Academy of Math & Science (HAMS) is collecting donations for this family, as one of the members is a student at the school.
If you are called to help, we will be collecting donations of items on the list below, this week and next week. You can bring to the church office and we will get items to the school.
Contact the church office with any questions by phone 813-769-9157 or email to [email protected]

January is flying by, as usual, and I want to make sure that you have updated your 2022 calendars with the HOPE meetings that will be coming up soon:
Monday, March 7, 7:00 - 9:00 pm - HOPE Rally Monday, March 28, 7:00 - 9:00 pm - HOPE Nehemiah Action Monday, May 23, 7:00 - 9:00 pm - HOPE Celebration
Also, we will be meeting on Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:00 pm, in the Fellowship Hall at Wesley for a Network Meeting. We will review what HOPE has been working on this year and strategize getting as many people as we can to the Nehemiah Action. If you would prefer to attend that meeting online with Zoom rather than coming in person, just let me know and I will send you a link to join. If you can't make the meeting, I would love to meet up with you some other time to go over ideas.
I'm looking forward to working with you to accomplish all that God wants for us this year!

The Nomads will be here at Wesley working on our renovations in the sanctuary, starting January 24th for about 6 weeks. As a token of our appreciation we would like to provide them with lunch daily. If you are interested in making/purchasing a light lunch for them, please contact Lyn Heinz to get on the schedule. Thank you in advance!

The creative planning team is challenging Wesley to become part of our community puzzle piece by sharing some love with our brothers and sisters at Habana Nursing Home. We are collecting items to help spread some joy and love to some souls that need it the most by distributing goody bags to the residents. This challenge goes along with the lesson Pastor Ernie is teaching from Philippians. We are focusing on this teaching in our groups at the 11:15 am Contemporary Service. Let us be the missing puzzle piece that Habana Nursing Home has been searching for. Are you up for the challenge?

God has allowed me the privilege of sending out requests, since the day we did it by phone. However, now to bring the system up to giving new people the opportunity to serve in this manner, we're trying to change the way we do things. We are asking that instead of emailing me a prayer request, you can email the Church office ([email protected]) or use the link below (in blue) to enter your prayer requests on the Wesley Prayer Wall that is connected to the website. The steps on how to enter a request are featured below as well. If you could please help me in spreading the word on this change, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your prayers and the privilege to serve.

Let us pray for you: When viewing the Worship Service, share/type in your prayer requests in the Comment Field. Your prayer requests will be recorded and added to the Prayer Wall in the church's website so that prayer warriors who visit the Prayer Wall can include your requests in their prayer lists. Please Note: Prayer requests from the previous services have been posted to the Prayer Wall. Please take time to visit it and pray for these requests. Many Thanks!

We will no longer be having the Salvation Army Donation Drop Box here at Wesley. Unfortunately, there have been items that are too large being left outside of the Drop Box that couldn't be collected and it has become an eye sore & a difficult job for the Salvation Army workers. Below is a link for anyone that would like to schedule a pick up for donations through the Salvation Army.
