Pastor's Notes to Wesley
|
|
This is from one of my morning devotions for today.
|
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. — 1 Corinthians 1:27
Thought The Cross is such an offensive symbol when viewed in its most basic and raw form. For God to become human flesh and live among us is unbelievable enough. For God to be subject to the limits, pains, and rigors of mortality and human needs is unthinkable. For God to endure the indignities and inhumanities of the Cross is preposterous. But, that is the Gospel. What appears to be foolish, weak, and offensive has the power to re-make us and inspire us to unparalleled faith. When we come to the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus, we come to the impossible which was accomplished by God's grace for us and in us. Only God would bring us salvation in such a way.
Prayer Holy and gracious Father, I know that the Cross may be silly to some people. I know that many people who wear the Cross as a symbol don't honor it. But Father, I confess that Jesus' willingness to go to the Cross for me is powerfully convicting and amazingly reassuring. Thank you for this gift of love and sacrifice of grace. In Jesus' name. Amen.

This passion week, let us not forget the great love God has for us.

The Naomi Rebecca UMW Circle will begin meeting again in person at the church in the Multi-Purpose room. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, April 6th at 7:00 PM. We are looking forward to getting together again in fellowship, prayer, worship, and study for the first time in over a year. If you want to be a part of a women's gathering who encourages one another, prays for one another, worships together, and serves together for the sake of missions and ministries, please join us on the first Tuesday of every month. We are so excited to be meeting up in person once again after so long. We look forward to seeing all of the lovely ladies back together again. If you have never been part of a women's group before, come on and visit us Tuesday evening. Contact: Gail Parker Phone: 813-215-7268 Email: [email protected]

The Wesley Memorial UMC choir will be starting up again on Thursday the 8th of April. We have missed singing together, praying together, and the fellowship of our weekly times together. We have also missed our service of music offering in the worship service. It's been over a year and we are ready to sing His praises together again! If you have considered joining the choir in the past, now is a good time to join us. Thursday, April 8th is open for anyone to come and just listen and take it all in to see if singing in the choir is for you. If the Lord gave you a voice to sing and/or a heart to rejoice.....then you will be in the right place! We need voices to lift up the name of the Lord! Especially any of you men who have considered joining. We will be meeting in the sanctuary instead of the choir room until further notice. This allows us to sing safely in an open space. Sing to the Lord a New Song!!

We have TV monitors located in the church for everyone to use to get the good news out about what we are doing in our church as well as in our community.
